What do expect when you attend a drinks night/ social

Jump to newest

Just wondering with me doing a few drinks nights and socials now, what people expect from it and why do you they attend them ?

I've posted this as recently there's been a lot of people taking the plunge for the first time to attend a drinks night or social and obviously they are really nervous .

So thought a wee post might be a good idea .

Shelley xx

No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

The socials for me are what fab should be all about.

People coming together for a drink maybe some food, dancing and lots of flirting and hopefully new friendships made as well as a chance to catch up with old friends too.

And perhaps for newbies to finally get that first verification which might help to get them some fun meets in the future.

I love doing the socials and I love watching the many friendships which have blossomed from them.

Your doing a great job Shelled so keep it up and enjoy

Same as above for us, few drinks and a laugh, meet new people and catch up with ones we have met before. We have been to some really good social nights over the years and always had a great time.

I think it is fair to say we are regulars at socials. We keep coming back because of the banter, the dancing, the opportunity to catch up with old friends and hopefully make new ones. Oh, and lets not forget the smooching

Lots of great replies. when attending I expect a relaxed friendly atmosphere good music and to be able to chat freely to others . Not to be expected that anything will happen at end of night as socials are for simply this socializing

When organising I expect respect to be given to all people attending. If people have issues with others going, either don't attend or leave your issues at home .

Just like a big works night out only we are a maybe all a bit naughtier minded . Xx

We've really enjoyed the ones we've attended (either organised by Jacs or Shelley), met some new people who are now great friends too and been lucky enough to have the opportunity to play afterwards as we've been booked into the same hotels. Very happy with the "no play and best behaviour" rules at the venues. We're also very much looking forward to the next 2 social events in our diary . The music for the Stirlng one will take me back to a great time in my life, roll on. Sx

St Andrews this week

Tbh, we've only been to one, in Edinburgh. Spoiled by one extremely d*unk woman sat beside the door of the "private function room" being fingered and groping a guy. Unfortunately, the pub usually had a disco on the night it was held so lots of vanilla folks were in and out very quickly when they saw what was going on. We left after a chat with some nice folks but those organisers won't see us again.

it's hard to monitor every single person who attends a social night but I think it's important that people respect the rule of a non playing venue . The amount of messages I receive when hosting nights asking "so how strict is the no play policy "

And there's sadly always someone willing to take that chance on the night . If the rules aren't stated then people might think it will go unnoticed or a blind eye will be turned . Thankfully I've never had to ask anyone to leave an event due to this and hope I never have to . It's respect to the other people around you . We all night have a laugh joke flirt and yeah a smooch with others but there has to be boundaries I feel .

Oh definitely, I've only seen the odd smooch on any social nights out we have attended. I'd be mortified if anyone did anything more in a public place when we were there. Even in the throws of a damn good social night out there's got to be some standards & respect for others.

On a social big or small I like:

A laugh, nice venue, good blethers, dancing is a plus but optional, a wee drink and good company

Dx

Sadly it happens....discretion seems a lost art to a small majority....seen a few things happen and was less than amused...

In saying that been to many a social and people have been well behaved.
