Looking to take kids away in the summer and Egypt is always coming up at a good price!

Never been and never really fancied it but might be tempted!

What's people's opinions?

A group of Egyptians have just been killed in Syria. It could get rough over there.

I stopped off at a couple of different points during a red sea cruise . The hotels are gorgeous yes . The place in itself I found to be dirty and very run down . We also had to go on all tours on an armed convoy. The temperature also rises to a very high heat, which to me is just uncomfortable and I love the sun . My daughter is also blonde and she was a teenager and whilst on a tour we both felt we were in a goldfish bowl with people constantly looking at us . I'm sure other people have went and loved it but it's not somewhere personally I would book to go in the summer or at all tbh. Just my opinion xx

Went just over three years ago so the kids would have been 3 and 10 at the time. We had a great time. Resort/hotel was fantastic and the excursions were good, too.

Diving was superb, if you're into that sort of thing.

The only problem we had was our own stupidity in not being strict enough with suntan lotion on the kids so they both got burned

I can probably dig out the details of where we stayed if you like.

Was in Sharm in November and albeit the hotel was nice... Outside the complex I didn't feel safe in the slightest. Nice to see but wouldn't go back.

the above advice is spot on, I also had a poor experience and would advise against it for a "family holiday", don't take the chance when it involves family, there are plenty SAFE locations

.

Defiantly wouldn't, more to kick off over there.

As a family with 3 kids we have been 2 yrs running

Kids won't go anywhere else been to sharm and hurgada. Both great but hurgada a bit quieter

As above said most hotels have great waterparks in them

As long as you love the heat you will love it ...

Just read a thing on the home office website!

Although they still say the Sharm area is still safe they deem it a high risk of a terrorist attack!

The reason is the threat from ISIS and the high concentration of western tourists!

The hotels look cracking and normally this wouldn't put me off but don't know if I want to take the kids there!

Plus I like the heat but it does seem really hot in July!

This is why the prices are good right now. How should I put this, Egypt has always has had "issues" and right now its not a ideal location for family.

Play safe and keep to a box standard holiday package.

We don't know what's going to happen over the next few months but read the news and the answer should be clear.

IS do not follow the normal terrorist script, what they do to people is horrible and in the name of religious belief exercise caution and play safe.

No matter how good the deal or how cheap do not take your family, consider them first over cost.

Quite apart from my reservations about potential conflict, Egypt has a crap record on human rights (as have many North African countries).

No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

The two top cheapest holiday destinations just now are Turkey and Egypt

Maybe Turkey would be a better option for a family holiday xx

There are really two Egypts. The obvious one is that of antiquity. The other is Sharm al Sheikh favoured by Tony Blair back when he was poor. lol

I've been to Turkey a couple of times and really enjoyed it.

If you don't mind leaving from Manchester there are some great deals leaving from there.

I'm off to Cuba and the price got it for leaving from Manchester was pretty impressive only £200 more than we paid for our holiday to majorca Last year So might be an option for you

Cuba's a good idea. Go now, before the Yanks 'normalise' relations and ruin it completely.

Because it's just me and the two kids it's harder as you don't get free child places and stuff!

Yeah Manchester is always a good option as it's a lot cheeper! I saved over £1000 on flights to Florida when I took them two years back compared to Glasgow!

Having seen today's news, and the news in general coming from that region, i personally wouldn't risk it. Essentially with kids involved.

stick to the Canaries!

Year round sunshine and virtually NO risk of a revolution or terrorist attack!
