Glasgow

most socials I have been to are we all meet in a nice big pub with a fab DJ(where they will reserve an area for you free of charge as they are more than happy that your drinking their ale) noone bothered with a buffet as most eat before they go out....or if like me cant eat when drinking. So hence theres a free night oot for all. Why go to all the hassle of organisng paid venues muic and food, getting money in for tickets and why pay for a social when you can have as good a night for free?????

not many big pubs can hold 130-150 people thou can they? hence why we book venues for social nights.. hence a small fee ... plus they brill nights out too

Main reason i like organised socials is because it is a private hall where its all swingers mixing with the exception of the staff.

At a pervious social where non swingers mixed with swingers seemingly got a bit akward.

Socials in pukka, private venues can be free too.... providing enough people attend the venues are happy to get their cash from bar sales.

Problem arrises though when people say they are going and then dont turn up. If they aint paid anything and they dont turn up then they aint lost anything.... but the organiser possibly has!

This is potentially why, many socials are paid socials, least if people are gonna lose £10 if they dont turn up, they may think twice about asking for a place!

That's just meeting in a pub for a drink not a social.

"That's just meeting in a pub for a drink not a social."

Ok I may get shot down here but

it's all in the title "SOCIAL" surely it doesn't matter whether its just a couple of folks meeting for a friendly drink and face to face chat or a big friendly organised party type do... it is still a social event, we have been to the bigger organised "dos" and find most to be an excuse for friends that already know each other to get together.. where as the best one we personally went to was the "eat n meet" great atmosphere and everyone was able to chat and have a laugh, without the constantly loud music! Why do DJs do that??? the more people does not mean turn the sound up to drown out the chat!

But it is each to their own!

just feel the less fussy socials are not as scary for newbies too.

to me a social is a large group of swingers getting together for a party.(ie. 15 or more)

i have been to drinks things where maybe 10 or less and had fun but i like the atmosphere of more people there to chat to , some i've never met before. for that i don't mind paying a few quid.

and like jands said if its all swingers there except staff fewer embarassing moments - have you ever went up to someone in a pub and asked their username? only to discover it wasn't who you thought it was?

Most socials are fine but we have been put off by several things in the past namely overt fall outs in the street, people asking for a swingers password in "jest" at public entrances, and raised eyebrows by pub staff overhearing conversations... Not that we feel overly concerned ourselves but others felt they had to go early as they werent to happy to be outed as swingers ... Itc can cost a lot more but fully private (no public socials )with staff who know who they are working for feel more secure even though they can cost a lot more to organise. But everything has its place ..
