I love old buildings and their architecture, looking through the abandoned Scotland and derelict Glasgow websites and there's lots of places I would like to visit and explore. Great for photo opportunities(not fab photos). Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of places worth a visit. Hoping to do St. Peter's seminary some time soon

Have you checked a site called 28 days later? I love checking out urban Explorer websites, the guys are pretty good photographers. St Peters has been done a few times on there.

If you're willing to travel a bit, Old Bangour Hospital in West Lothian.

There's HiddenGlasgow and DerelictGlasgow for starters. Both are good sources of further targets for exploration.

Hidden Glasgow also organises informal tours of interesting places.

Lennox Castle is at the bottom of the Campsies. Near where Celtic have their training ground.

"woodielee hospital and gartloch mental hospital, if theyre still there look worth a visit "

New houses have been built on both sites. I'm sure the main hospital building at Gartloch hospital has been converted into flats.

just googled it, never been to lennox castle but I might have seen it from campsies. Must be either woodilee or the gartloch asylum as they both look familiar.

I used to work in one of the buildings on the Abandoned Scotland videos but the building is in such bad state I don't think it is safe to go in, another building was in Barrhead and it has been pulled down since the pictures had been taken.

Don't want to dampen things, but on the odd occasions that I drive along the old A8 past the hospital, it always crosses my mind about the many poor souls whose lives ended in there as a result of an RTA on the old 'killer' A8.

I like going to glasgow catherdral but going downstairs as the ceilings are incredible and make a great shot.

The necropolis nearby is also good but you need to get the right light for a good shot.

It was re-opened, but closed again a couple of years ago. Big plans now in the pipeline, lodges, hotel, houses etc.

Only recently learned about Urban Exploration through an English facebook friend.

The 28 Days Later site is good. You could also try Oblivion State.

I wasn't aware of Abandoned Scotland etc, will need to have a look.

It was built as a folly to admire the surrounding scenery and I believe the pineapple comes from the fact that exotic fruit was once grown there. I love it.

Bangour is a good place. You can look in the windows and still see old wheelchairs, beds, etc, it's weird to think that it was once a small village.

There is also old bunkers up near faslane that are now open

I remember when I worked in Room At The Top, 4 of us went up after work around 4am. There's a dude that drives about and we were running like a mad bunch to get away from him! I dived into an old bus stop where the glass had been smash and I landed on it haha! Running thru woods crying my eyes out!

Carlisle Dumfries

Try the Buildings at Risk Register - lots of architecturally or historically important buildings right across Scotland. Some are mundane, but there are some photogenic gems there although it is a while since I've used it for pix.

http://www.buildingsatrisk.org.uk/

I think there is also an English version
