Why on earth can job hunting not be a easy task driving myself nuts here trying to find the right thing for me!

Think I should apply to be a sex toy tester for ann summers that can't be hard work!

I was lucky, i walked in interviewed then accepted started in the new year. Six months later everything went online application only.

I know exactly how you feel.

I spent last year looking for work for nearly 8 months. Banging my head against a wall from hearing the same two excuses;

"We require a clean driving license"

"You're over qualified"

In the end I had to take a contract role bellow my experience, and I'm now banging my head off a wall at the inefficiencies in the company's IT section and also how mind-numbing my job is.

However it is money and helps pay the bills.

An old and wise friend once gave me the best advice ever about job hunting. If you'll allow me i'll try and make it quick!

Take a blank piece of A4 paper and a pen/pencil/crayon! Add a bottle of wine (or favourite tipple) and glass. (tea of coffee if not a drinker.

Open said wine, after first glass pick up pen and start to write on paper anything AND everything "That makes you happy or feel good" ..... Object is to fill paper until there is no more space to write anything, and finish wine!

Turn paper upside down and go to bed and sleep it off.

In morning, examine paper and by looking at all you've written your chosen career should become apparent to you!

It's probably more about getting a direction than applying, but you dont know what to apply for IF you dont know what you want to do!

been doing what i do for nearly 30trs.

I'm bloody good at it!

But when your industry collapses, you're fucked!

Can't afford to retrain.

And nothing there for my experience.

That's what that technique is designed for! To find an alternative path, that you might not have considered because you been 30yrs in one job/industry.

I've been very recently laid off-ish, though still with same company for the time being..

so yes I'm currently looking but I cant stand this stop n start economy...maybe I need a job in something thats never gonna end...like a toilet roll tester ffs...everyones gotta shit dont they?

Time to job hunt for me too I think. Current job coming to an end so it's maybe time to think of an alternative to me job hunting is not easy though. I don't envy anyone having to do it long term.
