Childhood memories of the snow!

It's been a few years since we have had any serious snowfall in Central Scotland, think 2010 or 11 was the last really bad one!

I can remember as a kid loving the snow especially when school was shut! We had a big hill close to ours and all the kids from the street would spend hours sledging!

By the time you got your wellies off your toes were nipping with the cold and fingers almost frozen off!

Good times!

Sneaking onto the golf course & sledging down the hill. We never had enough sledges for everyone so took black bin bags too. Didn't matter how well you wrapped up you always ended up soaking. Always loads of fun though.

We used to nick the lids of folks bins, not the new wheely bin type the old round ones! You flew down the hill!

Ah so your the person all the teachers spoke about when you were getting into trouble for throwing snowballs! " you could have someone's eye out with that boy"!!!

Kids are not even allowed out in the playground now at break when it's snowing incase the get injured!!!

Was out creating some memories today as its wee mans first experience with snow he was just a bit confused by it all but the lookon his face was priceless!

Ah we always had more snow when I were a lad, lol!

Remember using a car bonnet once for a sled down the gold course, terrific fun with several of us on it on the way down - not so great dragging it back up!

It is finally snowing here!!

Most memorable would be sledging in the park with my big cousin... He fell off his sledge and slid straight into a tree. Poor boy could hardly walk home.

I had a mate that broke his arse sledging!

It was really his coccyx bone but that didn't stop everyone at school slagging him about his broken arse!

He walked like he had shat himself for months after and had to get a cushion to sit on at school!

Kids can be cruel but I remember it being the source of much amusement!!!

We used to have lots of snow too in the North of France. I remember the sledge races we used to have. But, we would dump our sledges for fancy black bin bags lol

Remember using my mums plastic tray as I didn't have a sledge it was the best thing ever kids with sledges always wanted a shot of my tray... got a sledge the next year but want the same lol

The favourite was a short handled shovel as a one man sledge, the speed was incredible

Sledging down Lochee Park in Dundee on a large home made sledge which held 4 excited kids!!! The parks department of the council used to set up gas floodlights to provide lighting on dark evenings. I remember one year when the snow had been compacted and froze into pure ice. We had to crawl up the hill on hands and knees, pulling sledges behind us!!
