Emigrating who's considering it this morning?

North Lanarkshire

Has anyone ever considered leaving Scotland for sunnier climates?

I did about ten years ago but for various reasons decided against it!

Have to say when I wake up in the morning, the house is freezing, wind howling (outside lol) and the rain battering down! I sometimes regret the decision not to go!

On days like this I regret not going, I do love Scotland but would love it a bit more with better weather!

Very true but to be honest snakes and spiders I can tolerate as long as it's sunny

I love the seasons which we get in Scotland, the cold dark nights, the heavy rain, the snow -especially when heavy and the spring time when the sun comes out and the warmer weather appears, then July & August with lovely sunshine and warm weather and after that we look forward to the dark nights again

Scotland has the scenery and if you like all seasons than its a lovely place to stay

Only other place I would like to stay would be N. America west coast but as many say, I am happy with what I have, I am content

I work in SA & other places quite a lot. The sun warm in the morning is great, people generally are smiling & eating outdoors in the evening is so relaxing. I always look forward to coming home though. Scotland's weather can be trying but we have all the scenic beauty.

We were up in Grantown at the weekend, and walking back to our hotel nearly stripped the skin of or faces!

That being said, we were up there with a view to moving up and it didn't put us off.... I think there is nowhere else that can make a warm fire, good woman and stuff drink feel like that's all there is to life.

I travel through Grantown on my way to Moray with work, it is a lovely part of the country during every season. If you do decide to move there the people are very laid back & friendly. Enjoy.

I was headhunted in 1984 by the LAPD and the Royal Bermudan Army so California or Bermuda beckoned

Since then I have been invited by family to live in Canada, Australia, USA and Japan

However I awaken each morning look out my kitchen window as I put the kettle on and look straight at the Campsie Hills

I switch on my playlist and listen to Clanadonia or various other alike bands and dream of the many mountains, glens and lochs of the land of my birth and sigh at God's Country

This is my home

Constant sunshine is okay up to a point, the heat is the killer though..... nothing like working in the heat with air con being a luxury.

Hate the winter. Drains you . You eat junk just want to sleep. Wish I was lying on a hot beach every day beside the pool. Long vodka. Good looking lifeguards on stand by. Ye can ram your winters sun , sea drink, tan n hot men

Oh I'm depressed now.

I spent a couple of years seriously looking into moving to new York. Had my work looking into roles over there for me and all sorts. Sometimes I regret it, most times I don't.

Dont mind the cold its the rain and dampness I cant stand and we would go away to Spain and live for about 9 months of the year if we could. Yes the scenery is good but the same goes for a lot of warm countries and even most of Canada is guaranteed a nice summer.

Yes I've been offered a few job abroad but the last one was for me and I almost decided to go but could leave the girl I was in love with. I'll be emigrating soon.

Caledonia is the most powerful lyrical genious of a song to capture this.. The best place on earth
