Nope pay it faithfully every quarter telly /sky might not be good at times but paying up to £1000 fine I'm not in the position to pay plus it goes on your disclosure/pvg

Haha certainly not and they come under the same cuntish banner as traffic wardens.

Just wondering why people are still paying for this when you dont need to is all. There is a legal way to stop paying for it and you will NOT be prosecuted !

My beef is if you are subscribing to another provider, say Sky, Virgin etc these guys will be buying broadcast rights from the BBC - which you already pay for, so in essence you're being charged twice for the licence. Once by the beeb and once by the provider. You shouldn't have to pay it if you are buying a package tv deal.

so? are you going to inform us of this procedure?

I would happily never watch the BBC again or have the option scrubbed from my TV if given the choice not to pay

But we have no choice, if you own a TV you must pay, welcome to rip off UK

unless ofcourse as above we are going to be told different

If you go online there are categories you can choose from and some of which you don't pay tv license even if you own a TV.

In Scotland they (the TV Licence people) have to catch you in the act of watching live TV as its broadcast, unless you admit to it or they can peer in your window and see you then they are never going to catch you. The TV detector vans were proven to be a big bag of crap ... they simply don't work as advertised.

But the legal way is to advise the TV licence people that you own a TV but do not watch live TV as its broadcast, i.e. you only watch DVD's or play a games console on your TV (which of course is the only way you should use your TV), then you don't have to pay, this also goes for the use of the Iplayer, but I understand they are looking at ways of changing that.

They should bite the bullet and make the BBC pay for itself through advertising revenue or sales of shows to other countries / DVD sales etc, I think they already make good money on that.

The tv licence breaches European competition laws by forcing you to purchase a licence (exclusively designed to fund the bbc) to view their competitors output.

Do not give them access to your property. Once you downloa they can then gain forcible access in future. You have also a right to deny them "assumed access". This is access to your entire property i.e from your garden gate to your door. You must do this in writing to the bbc. . If they call round again it's trespass.

I've stopped but I nolonger watch live tv and tbh I don't miss it as you have so much access to programs and movies for free. So I now watch what I want and watch less rubbish. I now seem to have more time for fab so there's another benifit lol

There is an email you can send them which states you will no longer be paying your licence due to the way the bbc handled coverage of the referendum. It means legally they cannot come within a certain distance of your property and they have no right to prosecute you for not paying it
