Took time out over the holidays for a wee bit reflection time. Going back next week

Thought I'd slip in here for a moment to tell a story if a vivid memory I have

On the 2nd of January 1971 I was 9 yrs old and that season had become a regular on my local supporters bus.

Today was to be my first Old Firm game and like a lot of young guys in and around the Glasgow area one if the festivities high/low lights depending on who you supported

Can't remember why exactly but I didn't get to go that day, and my next door neighbour went in his own

By 10pm my family was worried sick as he hadn't returned from Ibrox.

10:30 our kitchen door opened and a tear stained Highlander stood in our living room

He came home

66 didn't

Do not turn this thread into a West of Scotland slagging match

Just bow your heads and reflect

January 2nd 1971

RIP

There were 4 members of that supporters bus that didn't come home

One was a couple of years above me at school

E.K . Glasgow

In those days no mobile phones to contact those you were worried about I know of one man who's wife was so distraught she battered him when he arrived in so late and a bit d*unk then hugged him with all her strength . May all of them rest in peace .
