There seems to be a new in-betweeny setting on headlights, between normal and main beem-blind you, might be fog light combo, but yip, real irritating.

The chelsea tractors with headlights set high can be blinding, especially in a low slung car.

Yes, obviously as technology moves on headlights are getting more focused and brighter. Many cars now use 'projector' type lenses that focus the light on the road in the exact place its needed. Coupled with Xenon lighting these are very bright.

But, some people are converting older cars that are designed for halogen bulbs to use Xenon (or HID) lights. This is illegal according to VOSA and the Vehicle Lighting Regulations. As they often have reflector style headlights that are designed for bulbs that have a filament when used with HID bulbs the light emitted gets thrown everywhere on the road ahead and so often in the path of oncoming drivers.

if you see a little fiesta pootering along the road with one full main beam on, its me, its the only light that still works on the car. Although i'm timing my journeys just right so that i get home before sunset

Aye, but least they are proper ones that came with the car not some aftermarket shite that blinds 747 pilots too!

HID lights use less power than halogens so more eco friendly but give out more light.

to retro fit these to a car and pass the MOT they must be self leveling - most old cars dont have this so we all get blinded.

i dont mind HID lights i just hate idiots who run with their fogs on every day of the week

fogs are for fog
