less fortunate at Xmas

This morning I was at my little boys nativity play I was chatting to a mum I hadn't seen for a while..

As you do general chat about Xmas & stuff while chatting she told me she was struggling as she was living in a new house ex was bad to her she escaped he held the finance side of things won't help her.

anyway the thought of her & her children going without at this time of year I got home phoned a few friends before I knew it. it went round like wild fire.

so within a few hours we have secured a lot of stuff for these kids including dinner for Xmas day.

.

The point of this post is always remember if you think you have it bad just need to turn & there's someone worse off than ourselves a little something from you will go to great use xx

It's a fantastic feeling helping others probably even more so when it's kids at Xmas I remember giving a house full of furniture away when a relative passed there was wee kiddies in the home I delivered the furniture too there dad had passed of and left them and there mum with bare floor boards if you could have heard the excitement from these wee kids when I delivered beds and tv and general household items it was so emotional to experience I never realised people lived in these conditions so I say well done you

I just love this idea.

Thousands of Christmas meals have been bought for homeless people in Edinburgh and Glasgow after a sandwich shop made a plea for donations.

Social Bite, the chain of shops that gives 100% of its profits to charity and recruits people from homeless backgrounds, is to open at Christmas.

The chain has teamed up with daily deals website, Itison.com.

A donation of £5 will pre-pay for a meal at Christmas and a free coffee from Social Bite in the new year.

More power to their elbow!

No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

Some people do a lot of things like this to help the less fortunate day in day out .

The gratitude and pain in these peoples faces as they thank you for giving what for some is so little but to them it just means so much and its so much appreciated .

Sadly for many they dont want the help

and have at times accused of those people a lot more fortunate than themselves of rubbing it in their faces just what they have ...but the biggest majority of them are so grateful .

so well done you hunni im sure your friend will always remember the kindness you have shown xx

Its nice to know that there other people out there willing to help those who actually need it. God forbid we ever found ourselves in that situation. I would like to think that even when pride stops people asking for help there are others stepping in anyway x

Working in a self scan area, I see the trolleys for the food banks and the box for Christmas gifts for less fortunate children and they are crammed full every day, filled up by people of all ages. So heart warming.

Great to see so many of us thinking and feeling about the less fortunate.

I just wish I had more to give!

Like many have said before, none of us are that far from being in that position.

Be thankful for what you have. I but a large rucksack together this time every year for a homeless person sleeping on the street and go into Glasgow and give it to someone less fortunate.

Fallen on hard times forced to sell 200,000 pound cheap now living on the council property,s worst area and still can't pay full rent getting letters of bieng made homeless

A tin of soup goes along way

Do you know the guy with the dog is encouraged by the DWP to go get the dog as it gives him responsibility and he has his benefit topped up to look after

Only the junkies get extra for the dog

And I can sympathise about no benefit due to savings etc.

Thanks you to you - and for you.

Not a fan of this time of year - and not just because of the weather. Lost both parents between early Jan - March a decade or more ago. Still pains me.

Life has been good to me - fell in with decent, honest and hard-working people -and we're all doing okay. Dec, Jan and early Feb sees me writing cheques that I'll have to work like a demon to pay - but I'll keep writing them.

Taxation is the first step to looking after people - it can't be the last.

Thanks for looking after this family - and for reminding us all that we should be looking to support people

Lost my parents a long time ago.

Lost everything else last Xmas, my job,

My home, all other assets through bankruptcy and now my mental health

But it's thanks to people like the OP and

Food banks that keep me going

I agree every little helps but I do struggle with feeling I have never given enough - can be quite hard at Christmas when a lot of charities do a big push as well.

Responding to a Private message - I suspect that you are right and that parents do conspire to die at memorable dates. Damn them! My guess is - we would remember the dates anyway.

The legacy is to remember and embrace all that was good - and to know what we should let go.

Having been totally alone for the past 2 christmases and not seeing another single soul, I decided to open my home up this year for friends in the same position and open invite for Christmas dinner and accom if needed.

Still 2 places at the table if anyone wants to come along (just bring your own booze)....

don't buy into any conspiracy having lost both my parents within 2days of each other i think they would have been devastated if they knew it was going to happen and the hurt it caused

skye

I'm off to America next September to cycle from Niagra falls to New York, to raise money for Marie curie. I'm doing this for personal reasons as my brother passed away 2 days before Xmas, and without those wonderful nurses he wouldn't have been at home with us!

I'm doing it for others who also want their loved ones at home with them in their last days of life!

I've also done similar fundraising for the homeless around Xmas as its a very lonely time of year for them.
