Having sen some of the dross that's being touted as possible Number 1 for Christmas I've been thinking back to some of the songs I used to listen to as a child at Christmas. Carols asides what are your favourite Christmas songs? Mines would have to be Little Drummer Boy with Bing Crosby and David Bowie, Marys Boy by Boney M and Can You Stop The Cavalry by Jona Lewie

"Frankie Go's To Hollywood - The Power of Love or The Housemartings-Caravan of Love ?"

Neither is a Xmas song. Like Johnny Matthis's 'When A Child is Born' they just happened to get released near enough that DJs decided they are and don't play them the rest of the year.

I like 'Stop the Cavalry', 'I Believe in Father Christmas' and for a true representation of the 21st century meaning of Christmas, 'Hey Santa' by Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson

Kilmarnock

Has to be TV Smith - he of The Adverts fame, Christmas Bloody Christmas.

The antidote to all the sugary nonsense of this time of year.

The only acceptable alternatives involve Roy Wood or Phil Spector.

Best is definitely Fairytale of New York if only because the line "Sinatra was swinging" is deeply appropriate for this site.

Also the line "all the d*unks they were singing" probably sums up this forum quite well

I don't just revere Shakin' Stevens timeless Christmas hit, but I still regard him as one of the greatest British artista of all time.

We will never see a denim-clad, snake-hipped, quiffed, pop God like him again.

They didn't call him 'The Welsh Elvis' for nothing!

I love Shaky.

Fairytale of New York

Love the lyrics

You're a bum

You're a punk

You're an old slut on junk

Living there almost dead

On a drip in that bed

You scum bag

You maggot

You cheap lousy faggot

Happy Christmas your arse

I pray God

It's our last

Bahhhh Humbug
