Bars in Glasgow...

Within walking distance of the Cleveland Street area?

Were up for the weekend on 14/12 and wondered if anyone can give us advice on traditional friendly pubs/bars to visit - not really looking for the overpriced Wine bar full of younger people, just the good traditional bar/Pub type of place

Hey there. There's a couple of places I can think of right away. The Bon Accord is on chafing cross, really close to Cleveland street and then there's The Griffin on bath street. Hope you enjoy your weekend. Feel free to say hello x

Your within a 5minute walk of Sauchiehall Street where a pub crawl is nigh impossible in one night

There are a number if really good bars between you and Sauchiehall St

Bon Accord a good shout. If you like your whisky and beer they have a cracking selection.

Glasgow

There's actually a pub on Cleveland St. It used to be the Avalon but fell foul of the Sky broadcasting rules. It's now called Whiski Kraft (or similar).

A better bet in the gentrified Finnieston area is the Ben Nevis Bar on Argyle St at Corunna St.

Wherever you end up, enjoy!

You can't come to Glasgow without visiting the famous Horseshoe Bar. It's in Drury St, between Renfield St & West Nile St. Well worth a visit.

If you are just in the city centre everything is ok.Glasgow is like every other city there are places to avoid but the centre is fine.

I hope your visit goes well.

Personality I'd recommend the Merchant City area.

Loads of friendly, busy bars.

The brunswick hotel has a really good mix of people.

Also merchant square. Loads of bars all under one roof. Move around without going outside!

The bay horse closed down long time ago and isn't a bar anymore it's an eaterie place called The Raven.

Shame as i used to love the bay horse.
