Socials , What are they ?

In the light of what happened at a recent social, maybe its time that we explain What socials are ?

A Social , is when a group of people from the said site , meet and join in together to have drinks , food a laugh and a chat, whilst I realise all socials are different, I think its important that people know that most venues are ordinary places and that the socials held there do not involve sex.

It is not a rampant orgy and sex doesnt occur at the venues.

Socials on this site are advertised for people to put their name down and NOT on an invite only basis.

Too many people think that a swingers social is a 'shagfest' , the purpose of this post is to expel that myth and maybe having been 'informed' and 'educated' on what a social really is will help to stop so called sabotage, because the only thing someone not attending a social is missing out on is meeting some very lovely people and a good laugh.

It doesn't really matter what we, as a swinging community, know to be the case - it's about what others (like the people running the first venue or a journalist or your granny or ........) perceive to be the case.

Swinging in many peoples' eyes is pervery and pervery is something a lot of people want no involvement with, except in their newspapers or on the telly.

must say iv seen some things happen at socials that would never be allowed at for example a 40th birthday party.we love socials and go to most of the bigger well run ones but at smaller ones the behaviour has,in my opinion,left a bit to be desired. Jason

I was talking about the people already members of a swinging site , we all realise the vanilla community are against swinging or they would be here too.

The explanation about socials are for those on site who just dont have any idea at all .

To add my opinion, swingers sites, are firstly a means of social interaction, friends getting together, having a laugh and a few drinks, and not necessarily descending into a roman orgy, this is a commonly held belief that those who follow a swinging lifestyle are warped in someway, this is just not the case- there is nothing wrong in like minded people meeting,having fun- and as long as its not illegal, who has the right to judge, are community, for our actions, like i said to someone the other night, 99% of people who think we are perverted, would like to have fun, like us but are too damned repressed to do so. So lastly, the social side, and having a chat with like minded folks, getting together for a few laughs, and a wee bite to eat, is nothing wrong- and if it leads to sex with consenting people, then so be it, personally anyone who denegrates us, is entitled to have their say- we live in a democracy, however why should we all confirm to what's expected in so-called decent society, swinging hurts no-one and is just another facet of life, which I for one, embrace totally, so let this site continue, and to those who may attempt sabotage, of any future events- be careful of what you do, as I believe what goes around comes around.

I think we have to accept that the vanilla community who, as you say, are against swinger are here already - reading every word.

They're not interested in explanations of what does or doesn't happen at socials. They're against the whole idea unless they can use it to sell papers or make them feel good about themselves.

Great post thongs

firstly size of venue doesnt matter ive bn to loads big and small and u still get some one shagging in the loos playing at the back tables these gatherings should be fun enjoyable and time to as thongs get to know new meet with old and just have a laugh.Its those that cant contain themselves that ruin them get names for themselves ffs we mostly all book somewhere cause normally we travel to attend them whats wrong with waiting till the evenings over then leave with whom you wish to have your fun with it ruins it for all maybe its an attension thing try going to a family party and shagging in the loos well would you NO so why within this its no diffrent its still a gathering of friendswho just want to have a good night out.Long live the socials but the way its going from sabotage to just plain ignorant there is going to be none please think of your actions beofre what you do Tracy xxxx

Nice post Thongz.

As you have said maybe it will help all those newbies attending their first social about the protocol of such events but also act as a reminder for the few more regular attendees as well.

Everytime an incident happens it gives the small minded people out there further reason to jeopardise any future socials arranged and give the "vanilla" population a stronger reason for believing them and banning us from their venues.

In an ideal world we wouldn't have to hide the reason for such parties but as long as swinging is looked upon as a "dirty little secret" by society then we must continue the subterfuge in booking venues but at same time stRive to prove them wrong. Show them we can restrain our "animalistic urges" whilst in public and save it for the bedroom.

To all those members of Fab who take the time and effort, put up with the hassles of trying to get the money in and organise the socials - WELL DONE AND DON'T LET ANYTHING GET YOU DOWN .

As has been shown twice now that I know of the true members of the swinging community rally round and the events still go ahead despite the sabotage attempts and much needed funds for the charities close to our hearts still raised - sometimes people even dig deeper in their pockets as a way of proving the point too.

LONG LIVE THE FAB SCOTTISH SOCIALS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Socials area a very big part of swinging and really great fun they are exactly as thongz has described but for some the see it as way to behave in a very non adult manner which only adds to the attention ppl try to avoid.

for anyone who has never been its definatly the best way to introduce yourself to the swining community and make lots of lovely new friends and if your really lucky meet lovely new playmates too xxx

What people need to realse is that some of us actually socialise in these pubs and clubs outwith the site socials. Everytime there is a bit of OTT behaviour, we have to avoid going to that place again. That's now 2 pubs I can't go back to for fear of a mate or a work colleague finding out.

Think before you act is what I'm trying to say.

been to loads of great socials never played at any before or after them socials are a great way of meetin ppl without any pressures off fun you can decided who u want(or dont want) to then meet n have fun with dont let the idiots waste this for all

this was my first social and i thought it went very well never saw anything that i wouldnt see at a night out in my local

I haven't noticed any undesirable behaviour at any of the socials I have attended, maybe I just didn't realise it at the time it was going on.

But I feel that this need for certain people to sabotage the bloody hard work people have put into it comes from the petty jealousy that is becoming more apparent on the site. Tracy, along with many others, has put in a huge amount of time and effort in putting this particular social together and I am disgusted at the thought that just because she may have knocked someone back, or has met "someone else's man" the whole night could have been wasted.

Of course, that might not be the case, but please think of others instead of being so selfish as to spoil a night out for everyone.

Just my opinion xxx

Im curious about what the bad behaviour was! I ve been to 2 socials and had a great social time loved it. Id have thought normal rules of decency apply but what you do in your bedroom is up to you lol

yeah,,,but some dont leave it in the bedroom thats what the point is.

at our very 1st social we saw some well not so nice behaviour at a table and it really shocked us,,,what folk need to remember is that alot of peeps that go to these socials are here and new to swinging so having a grope or flashing you bits well that shld be left tillyou get to your hotels.as someone else said,you have to remember the bar staff ususally dont know what the night is for so think before you show what youv had for your brekkie or grab someone between the legs ehe?

The plain truth is that most ordinary people don't know what socials are and therefore they are frightened of them. They think there'll be a huge orgy and the police will arrive and they'll all get arrested and sent straight to Bar-L. But just go into any nightclub on a saturday and you will see much more flesh and more inappropriate behaviour than you would get at any swingers social.

So stay happy people. We are the rightous here! Swing on!

you will have good fun...meet loads of new peeps.....socials are a good laff and its nice to relax in an atmosphere where you know you aint gonna get judged....roll on the socials !!!!

I love the socials, best place ever to get to know lots of like minded ppl and put faces to names.

I know the hard work and effort that goes into organising them too... so well done those who do.

Last one I organised I got some stick off folk about the security measures but it paid off for me, besides not many ppl would argue with the wee bawbuster in charge of security that led the team and organising for me!
