sainsbury advert

Have you seen the mew sainsbury advert with the British and German soldiers ww1 at the front on xmas day. I thought this was so moving and humbling.

Had to explain to my eldest that it actually happened. Just shows humanity can show anywhere if people are prepared to make the effort

If you take into account that this is based on fact then the boys brave enough to set down their arms for a day managed to achieve a cease fire if only for a few hours. Am sure it gave them a much needed respite from the horrors of doing their duty.

Peace and goodwill to you too. How lucky we all are to enjoy our turkey, quality street, booze and telly in front of the fire rather than dodging bullets in a rat infested muddy trench and making the ultimate sacrifice so that future generations can do just that....

I love the advert and I am humbled by its message.

On the field (so to speak) you will always see the impact if humanity.

The advert does not promote war at the demand of big companies and I believe it was made in conjunction with the British Legion. I also understand there is a charitable donation to be made from sales of the chocolate shown in the advert.

Sometimes it would be nice if we could appreciate what we see without reading too much into it xx

There is a hell of a lot of pressure on people to spend money they may not have at Christmas - however it's quite possible to have a lovely time without spending too much - family and friends are the important things

Theres a very good piece on BBC site about it and how the ad triviaises war and the sacrifices those men made. Much more moving than a sanitised Chocolate advert

For me the fact they don't have their brand name all over it makes it both clever but also tasteful and the right mood for xmas time. Clever PR work but also nice to see the profits from the sales of the chocolate going to charity.
