Just watching The Rangers v St Johnstone.

Commentator saying he thought The Rangers fans we're boycotting tonight's game?

They weren't sure, does anybody know if this is true?

Rangers fans have been fantasticly loyal during their financial troubles however everyone has a breaking point and the way rangers are being run at the moment is a disgrace ...fans can only vent their anger and frustrations at the board in 1 way and that is to starve the club of their hard earned cash ..in the hope it will force change at the top ...good luck to them ...scotland needs ALL the big clubs to survive and thrive

I don't follow football at all but from the few occasions I've caught a minute or two on the telly, you'd think there was a mass boycott of all games.

Row upon row of empty seats. It can't continue like this.

Surely by starving The Rangers of cash is not the best way to help the club? Given the current situation, they find themselves in.

It's not only rangers who are suffering! Celtic have closed the top tier of there stadium several times including European games! No club in Scotland have had a rise in attendance in the past few years!

The commentator wasn't talking about just a poor attendance, he was saying that he thought the fans we're actively boycotting the game.

No idea I'm afraid - not a football fan - but I still struggle to believe that this the naming rights to the stadium were sold for £1. Seemed like a bargain until I remembered that another chancer managed to buy everything for the same price! Outrageous - the gates alone must be worth £300 - £400 in scrap. Football fans - seem to be exploited at every turn.

Scotland

Only team in Scotland with a near sell out every week from the times of trouble is Hearts.

Scottish football is at a all time low.

Look at the international team

Full of English players with a loop hole to play for Scotland.

No one has the money to go to all the games.

Family of 4 it would cost over £100 to go to a game by the time you get a pie and juice.

Scottish football needs the top teams in the top league.

A cash injection from the government may help the Scottish game.

Agreed - and as for suggestions that public money is used to further the exploitation of fans or the vanity of supposed benefactors - or failed investors - No. Maybe it is time for fans to control their clubs? As for me - 'mon the 'Bot

I wouldn't agree (as a Rangers fan) that public money should be used to bail out anyone.

I remember a report on the SPL only a couple of years ago( when we were there) that said there was around 60,000 empty seats in the SPL every Saturday!!!!!

I think the onus should be passed onto all clubs to get more bums on seats (especially the next generation) ...

get yourself along to forthbank, adults £13, under 17's £5, under 12's free. Pie and hot drink £3.

Family of four for as little as £38. Not all clubs try to fleece the fans.

Im not a football fan per say, ball is the wrong shape and cant be picked except by two of the players... my solution to put bums back on seats would include stop the tv companies deciding when games are going to be played. All the games should kick off simaltanously at 3pm on a Sat afternoon. Players should be on lifetime min wage contracts same as any other working person. Gate prices should be affordable... e.g. £5 a head with kids under 5 free to sit on your shoulders...

I agree in support to the arts from the public purse - opera, ballet, public art - but football has the capacity to generate profit when it is managed properly - why is it so full of charlatans that seem so able / happy to fleece decent honest and hard working folk? No time for bigots or fools - but there's a lot of good people being cheated here - and that's not okay.

Would never slag a fellow fan for their opinion. Personally I'm a boycotter. No way in hell will I line the pockets of these crooks any more. They don't give a monkeys about the fans or the football side of things. We don't even have a scouting network set up, for a club our size in the situation we are in, signing cheap young players to get us through the divisions should have been imperative. Nope, huge wages for management, board, executives, directors, sign players we can't afford and aren't required, and all of a sudden its "fresh financial crisis at Rangers". We have a new CEO every day, we arw ran by faceless hedge funds who have no vision at all for where they are taking us, we now have Mike Ashley who has treat us with contempt by not saying 2 words to us and our manager is hopeless.

I've been a season ticket holder for years btw and I'm not the only one at my wits end with this nonstop circus. The fans have stuck by the club and will continue to do so once we have owners who respect us and want to see us succeed.

I dont call into question who you support what makes you think you can call mine into question ? Heres a little about why I dont view "the rangers" as the same as rangers fceague. The ECA is the sole independent body recognised by UEFA and FIFA as representing clubs at European level. Ordinary members of the group are required to be playing in their domestic top division and be licensed to play European football.Rangers do not hold a UEFA club licence as a result of a break in their accounts and, having lost their top-flight status, are no longer ordinary members of the ECA, the organisation confirmed."Rangers FC held ordinary membership with the ECA before entering into administration and later into liquidation," an ECA spokesperson confirmed to STV."Meanwhile Rangers FC, owned by the Rangers Football Club Plc, transferred all its assets, including its goodwill, to Sevco Ltd (Sevco Ltd later changing its name to the Rangers Football Club Ltd)"Alike at Scottish FA level, this 'new entity' had to re-apply for membership with ECA as according to Swiss law, membership of an association is neither heritable nor transferable (article 70.3 of the Swiss Civil Code).

European licence has nothing to do if we are the same club. If you say you were a Rangers fan ( which I doubt) then I find your post a shocker. Rangers still retained their co-efficient & European points as recognised by Uefa after liquidation. This would not have been the case if we were regarded as a new club. Sevco is the company who runs Rangers. The business side of Rangers was liquidated the club remains the same. The SFA, Uefa , Lord Nimmo Smith all say we are the same club. I could pull a load of different links to disprove ur theory. Question Kola if you went bankrupt tomorrow & you were liquidated did your life history until that moment you were made bankrupt no longer count???? Course not same applies to Rangers. But Kola I hugely doubt you have ever supported Rangers

No Kola ur club is still there & if you were a "proper" Rangers fan you would know that. A football club is not defined by what happens off the park it's defined by what happens on the park. Your club is still there playing in same colours , same badge, same strip, same stadium nothing has changed. Rfc was founded in 1872. The business side that was liquidated was set up in 1899 to become a plc to run the business side some 27 years after the club was founded. The business side folded the club did not.

Ok devils advocate here a few things don't make sense

If a new club quite correct they have no league position and of course start at the very bottom.

Here is the rub then what other new club has had to serve a punishment given to a different club for example would any new club have a signing ban?

If the history died why also did not the crimes and punishment and indeed the name?

Flip side if not a new club why have they not paid for their crimes both on and off the pitch?

All seems very grey to be honest if anyone can explain this be happy to listen

im really not winding anything up and no I dont support football anymore as I have said for ME my team is no longer around if some find some way of keeping that alive through another team thats their call

In the scenario that has happened to 'your' club I would continue to follow them. It's the same club in every way apart from a few legalities. Having seen a few posts on here I'm not surprised you are debating this tbh, although I suspect you would probably need directions to Ibrox.

But for you to say we died we are Sevco we are no longer same team you are at it. You have never supported Rangers you are clearly a fan of another team.

Not trying to be obtuse or difficult - but I'm very literal - So - Rangers and not 'The' Rangers, of the initial sentence? This stuff kills me - I'm trying to understand it - but it is like instructions for stuff where they call the same thing by different names - randomly, and confuse me. Anyway - football clubs are just baffling - and don't get me started on their proud histories - firstly - and literally again, histories can't be proud - they can be things in which people have pride. More importantly - Glasgow's biggest teams have histories that I'd rather not see continued.

I have not been to a Rangers game in ages, lots of fans are staying away as we all would just like to see Rangers in safe hands and if that meant another year or two out of the top flight then so be it for the long term future of the club.

Yes Scottish Football is not so great just now, with Hearts and Hibs dropping down we have a more attractive "on paper" league than what the top flight has.Lets face it teams such as Hamilton who have been doing brilliant will not manage to sustain there challenge and Celtic will win the league by x amount of points which has got the fans staying away,i have friends who are Celtic fans and they are picking and choosing there games to attend.

Fans want to see a challenge, while the leagues might not be quite what some of us would like hats of to Strachan for the job he is doing with Scotland.

Must admit I wasn't aware that for a short period when the new company was being set up, there was Infact two "rangers" on the go at the same time. (Comments further up)

I equally didn't know that some Rangers fans had decided they had no affiliation with the current team, if that's the correct way to describe it.

I know how hard I work to earn a living - and I'm not complaining, its a decent living. I'm not partisan - and I'm comfortable with people making a profit on investments - but I hate people being cheated / exploited. And I think that's what's happening.

Too many opportunists and charlatans seem to be able to coast into Ibrox - unbroken history/same or different club - I don't really care - but there needs to be a halt to the cynical exploitation of decent, honest and hard working people.

To be fair the Celtic fans have boycotted every game regardless of the competition.

There is 42,000 (no laughing at the back) according to their pals at the BBC - The best part of 20,000 dressed as green seats.

They cannot give their tickets away in BOGOF deals.

"Im not a football fan per say, ball is the wrong shape and cant be picked except by two of the players... my solution to put bums back on seats would include stop the tv companies deciding when games are going to be played. All the games should kick off simaltanously at 3pm on a Sat afternoon. Players should be on lifetime min wage contracts same as any other working person. Gate prices should be affordable... e.g. £5 a head with kids under 5 free to sit on your shoulders...

and you believe any half decent player would play for min wage I agree the money in the game is silly but talent and skill putting your body through the wringer for 10-15yrs I think deserves more than min wage"

As they progress their skill they get more but not the greedy money they get just now. After 20 years say doing the job they move on to a different career path or get promoted to coaches and management... I think football and pictures are the only jobs where the staff at the bottom of the management pile get paid more than the management team who run them and thats wrong....]

If you've met one then I'd be very surprised.

Don't know if I'm too late to answer this btw but there was an organized boycott by many fans groups of the St Johnstone game.

Many haven't renewed season tickets and just go match by match or not at all in order to keep money out of the current regime's hands.

The big tax case that we won

David Murray selling the club for a pound to Del Boy

Charles green as some kind of saviour

True blue ally and his staff.

Yes off the field is a shambles

But let's look at ally first season we came in the third division we played queens park 4 times In that team was a player called Andrew Robertson. Dundee Utd signed him then sold him for 3 million to hull. We sign Ricky foster. A boy called teller we let him go again to Dundee Utd we get in another 2 old boys. In Boyd and Miller.

We have to build the club from bottom up. We have missed the boat on bringing through Young players. Yes I am a season ticket holder.

We play at a tempo that suits the other team. We have pace that frightens other teams but it seems to warm the bench. Just don't know anymore

"Why you saying The Rangers? That you trying to get sly digs in? Some people are sad and have sad little lives..

Is The rangers not there name.now

You clearly have no clue and just like the rest of the sheep.

Do a little bit of research and find out for yourself and stop making a fool of yourself.

Clearly a Celtic supporter, do you call Celtic, "The Celtic", guess what, it says "The Celtic"on their badge?"

also known as the celik among other things but a swinging site forum not the place to reveal such names

That'll be a two way street.

It's strange how some people see it as banter, when dishing it out.

Yet cannot accept it as banter,

when on the receiving end.

I honestly cant tell why such intelligent people care so much over such a stupid thing ad to actually bother arguing about it. all this your not a true fan crap is just nonsense and stupidity and to be perfectly honest is just a bit a sad. each chose to support or not in their own way at their own pace. what's the point of fighting like children over a game. and as for the religion. to hell with fighting over such a stupid thing as that. for a start its the same religion with the same god and only arguments of human interpretation and secondly. and secondly both of them are against violence and pertness and preach peace and love. so.. yeah stupid. just my opinion I know but I really feel some of you take such a stupid thing too far and someone really should say it

The good thing about these threads are they show up people who have nasty divisive views and they are people we wouldn't want to meet no matter what team they support. So we can block them and move on

Same here. Our block list is quite big from some of the posts that get put up on here.

They may consider it "banter" but wouldnt really want to socialise with folk that spout some of the stuff on these threads.

Defo makes you aware of ppl you wouldn't want to meet, especially those who take pleasure in throwing snide remarks about child abuse about!!
