"Sean Connery ' s brother confirms the bond star will not be coming to the aid of the Yes campaign becouse he is a tax exile. Says the 007 stars health is better than his. And he's the younger brother. While I am not big on celebs Sean is a Scot and a high profile SNP supported. Will the wee Eck chase him now for back tax?" Sir Sean has always said that he would return to live in Scotland once it was a free country.

Government dept that were mover north and cover the whole of the UK. Will shut. There will of course be new jobs for an independent Scottish Civil Service. But much fewer than one that covers the whole of the UK. Job losses are inevitable if it goes yes. The point about sir Sean is that his tax money would fund retaining some of these jobs but he chooses to keep his money in a tax heaven. Jk pays her tax.

"Official figures from the national PCS union the biggest of the uk civil service unions and who represent tax collectors and the whole HMRC. Tax avoidance dodging under paying and legel loopholes costs all of the uk £120 billion a year. If these people and companies were made to pay up in full than there would be no need to raise tax rates or make cuts. Tax exiles contribute to austerity and social deprevstion that Scotland wants to get rid of. So why is Wee Eck friends with someone who contributes to social inequality? Why is he suggesting more tax loopholes for big business and low corporation tax levels that he has given no indication to us of how he will ensure they are collected? you might also want to take a look at Phillip Greens tax avoidance schemes and ask why David Cameron would have him as a government advisor. Then also ask why the revenue put almost no resources into chasing large scale tax avoiders but pressurise small business owners. The system stinks to high heaven. Damn the man, free the empire " I suspect what you are getting at is that a cabinet of multi millionairs and a tax avoiding chancellor can not be trusted to persue tax dodgers. And I think you would be right. Sadly the Wee Eck is no better and together with the right thinking people of the rest of Britain we can bring these people to account.

Damn the man, free the empire " Since posters on this thread are keen to quote PCS, they'd inform you that one of the first things the Tory government did when it came to power was to shut the HMRC office in Fife tasked with chasing big business UK-wide who avoided paying their taxes and that a 1/4 of a million civil service jobs have gone as a result of the ConDem alliance cuts! Civil servants in Scotland would be much safer under an independent Scottish Civil Service as Northern Ireland have had for a very long time.

I am well aware of the PCS position and the situation in Fife. I would agree with it. However it was in the London papers tonight that a further 8200 HMRC jobs will be at risk if it's a yes. While I think this is discraceful it does make a sad sense. A smaller tax base will need fewer staff. Further as tax is a UK wide issue some of the work done in HMRC offices in Scotland covers other parts of the uk. They will not be outsourcing this work to another country. Even the tories are not that mad.
