His peers believed his story may be hard for us to understand but we look on the trial how we live not how folk in other countrys live so I believe his peers havea far greater understanding of all elements and the correct decisions were made

He is as guilty as sin.

The judge said he had no way of knowing it was his girlfriend in the bathroom? If I woke up during the night to a noise I'm pretty sure I'd notice if my girlfriend was in bed beside me or not. If she wasn't beside me then one would assume that it was her in the bathroom.

He isn't up in front of a jury.

He'll still get charged with culpable homicide. I reckon he won't get put away for that long though.

Very true. Think the comments of another job just after was very enlightening.

As is the case in most such high profile court trials the combination of fame, fortune, incompetent police investigations and a top notch defence team who know how to manipulate the legal process to their clients advantage has seen justice circumvented. The dogs in the street know this guy unlawfully took Reeva Steenkamps life, he's a thing an "it" and personally I hope the guy never knows peace or happiness for the rest of his wretched life. As for the contention that he was tried and acquitted by his peers, there was no jury and therefore this concept/assertion is an utter fallacy!

In the legal process a judge is not a peer, he is the conduit of the legal framework and as such interpets the law and administers justice. He must at all times be seen to be above, not a peer,of those appearing before him/her in order that the public can have confidence in their objectivity and impartiality.

If guilty of culpable homicide he faces up to 15yrs

Up to 5 years for each shot fired

up to 15 years for possession of illegal ammunition

So while the judge found that the facts of the case were not enough for the more serious charges it is still possible to hand out a lengthy sentence

South Africa's violent crime rates are some of the highest in the world. In 2011, the United Nationsreleased its global study on homicide. South Africa's murder rate per 100,000 residents was 30.9, while the murder rate in the United States was 4.7. South Africans have a fearful mindset and have trained themselves to be constantly wary of safety risks within their own homes, she writes. The country is so racked with violence that many middle-class houses are surrounded by 10-foot walls and come equipped with "rape doors" to keep intruders out of bedrooms.Kelly writes: "We spent six weeks [in South Africa]

covering the 2010 World Cup. There is no sufficient way to explain the paranoia about home security that grips average South Africans, except to say that fear animates much of their lives."

Perhaps this is why its best left to their own judicial system we simply dont understand life there

He is guilty, in your boyfriends house you don't go to the toilet and lock the door plus take your phone with you in the middle of the night!

They have been having a domestic and she's went to phone a friend or the police and he has lost the plot !

My theory anyway!

He will end up another OJ Simpson!

I really hate predictive text and also my apparent inability to proof read before posting.

Whatever the outcome, he will have to live with the fact he took someone's life in such a violent way.

Unfortunately for some in society, be it here or anywhere else in the world, living with the knowledge they took the life of another in such a violent manner does not weigh in their minds at all. Pistorius strikes me as being just such an individual and remorse a concept that is outwith his grasp!

One of the reasons I left is because people live in fear and live like prisoners in their own homes because of the crime. However, in this case, I think fear/crime was used as an excuse to get out of a messy situation.

OP is an aggressive man with a big ego who took his jealousy and anger out on his girlfriend and it ended badly.

I think he will get charged with Manslaughter and will have to do house arrest and community service along with a fine!

I feel for Reeva's poor parents

Err the walls are generally 15 to 18 feet high with 400 KVA running through the barbed wire. The most dangerous developments are those with a seucurity guard at the gate...the raiders offer to bump him off and so he lets them in. Bedrooms generally have steel grills covering windows and internal doors. I went in to a bank once and was asked by security if I was armed...commonplace there
