Cant believe that its been 13 years to the day since the terrible events in new york ,i remember seeing the events unfold live on tv,and the loss of life both on the day and in the ensuing war on terror has been tragic.

Yeah ill never forget that day - i still have an email I sent to my mum from the cafe at the top of tower 2 called the cafe at the top of the world - bought my mum a swartzkopf apple from there as well as a jacket from gap which was under the buildings in the shopping centre.

Stayed in the Millenium Hilton right across from it - every time i go back i still cant believe its not there anymore.

The new building does look rather nice

I remember exactly where I was when I first heard it on the radio. We all dashed to the security hut as he had a tv.

However, it's now a day of celebration for me as my daughter was born 6 years ago on this day

Yes remember it like it was yesterday. Had a coach load of kids out on a school trip when I heard it on the radio.

Got back to the depot it was showing on TV. My business partner and myself looked on in horror.

Got home and called my sister who lived across the river in Jersey at the time. She could see the dark smoke from her back yard and smell the buildings burn. Thankfully neither her or her kids were in the city that day.

Her husband, daughter, and her 3 son in laws all went over to both Iraq and Afghanistan with the US Army afterward.

All came home safely however 2 of the boys were wounded. One recovered physically enough to go back into active service although mentally he is screwed up and eventually he and my niece divorced, the other almost died and was medically discharged

It is a day the world will never forget

i remember watching it live on tv and a fire fighter was crying and sobbing as you could hear the thuds from the people who jumped as they fell on the pavement. He was distraught my heart went out to him as you could see how helpless he felt. Tragic for everyone involved.

I was sitting in the departure lounge of O'Hare International Airport when all of this unfolded.

It's a day that I'll never forget as I watched all of this along with thousands of other passengers on the tvs dotted around.

Flight was cancelled after an hour or so. Went to a local hotel organised by the airline and sat in silence in the bar as the many news channels reported on the events. Flew to Houston the following day and the security at the airport was like something I've never seen before and never likely to see again.

I lost 2 friends that day, attended funerals with no bodies, and watched it destroy so many lives. One of the worst days in the history of the world, and certainly the worst in the history of the USA.

God bless your souls and may each and every one of you Rest In Peace x

I remember a friend texting me to ask me if I was watching what was going on on tv and instead of going across the room and turning it on, I text her back saying 'no, whats happening'!

I remember watching with utter horror when the first tower started to fall but actually started to panic as I remembered my sister, who lived in greenwich, was a volunteer firefighters for two stations half an hour away it suddenly occurred to me that she could be there, given how many firefighters were needed. I managed to call her before the phone lines went down and found out she was being kept at her station for cover and I was actually interrupting her gym session! Definitely relief from a selfish perspective that went straight back to utter horror!

I've been to NYC since and before they started to build the Freedom tower and I was in tears walking round the exhibition of all the mangled wreckage and peoples personal messages.

Came out the classroom at uni to a friend (who's birthday it was)saying her brother was winding her up saying the towers had gone. Tv was on in dining hall and everyone was just standing there stunned as we watched. That friends birthday has never been the same since - always starts her day by lighting a remembrance candle for those who lost their lives.

RIP xxxx

A day none of us will forget can remember watching it all unfold on tv and thinking maybe we all seen too much that day on live tv.

Most vivid memory was 2 of my close friends calling me from a plane constantly circling that should have landed at asking what was happening as they had seen the fear in the cabin crews face as they were in air at the time of the attacks and had missed it by an hour and half.

RIP to all those lost and those affected by that day
