Was walking back from the physio this morning and witnessed a pregnant lady lighting up a smoke, she must have been 8 to 9 months pregnant. what a start for her kid.

So sad.

And it'll end up perfectly healthy while mothers who do everything right in their pregnancy end up with stillbirths etc, it's so unfair and winds me up to no end.

Exactly agree I don't want to go into details but ive always did what you are meant to do in pregnancy sadly im quite disgusted at times when I see d*unk or taken drugs smoking pregnant women & everything seems fantastic yet I did everything by the book I take great comfort in thinking they were to good for this earth or my other kids were given to me for a reason

I worked for 20yrs in a Maternity unit in the North side of glasgow Some mums couldnt have gave a s..t about the baby other in for bed rest for months and even the there was sadness at the end parents having to pay thousands to have their kids by IVF when the free courses failed You know it is an unfair world but that is life

Not to make light of medical facts but a fair few of us or our parents were born when smoking or drinking wasnt seen as bad andmost of the mothers at that time sat smoking away as they spoke about their hopes and dreams for their children who knows perhaps this young lady in question has had a really hard time stopping and allows herself an occasional drag on a ciggie im sure she feels guilt as for those that are stillborn is that not natures way of saying your not ready perhaps not some who cant have children make super parents alongwith the ones who have kids that are terrible guardians who knows what type of person she is all that was seen was a young pregnant lady having a puff on a ciggie

.

It doesn't happen very often but I could not agree more. I tried very hard to give up with both my kids and eventually was told that the stress of trying to quit was doing more damage and the doctors opinion was that the majority of damage to the baby through smoking was done in the early months. That was 20 years ago.

My kids are healthy adored and well looked after. Brought up to understand the dangers of smoking and thanks to their support aling with my amazing OH i was able to quit three years ago.

It's paisley sad factor is there are a fair few folk who just don't care. They are scraping the barrel as a human being and are just so vile and only interested in themselves and there next fix. I've lived in paisley for 20 year's. Such a shame, kid's having kid's to end up in care.

Hold on a second - have I missed something? Just because the lassie lights up a cigarette whilst pregnant, she is going to be a bad mother and is the scum of the earth!

I grew up in an area far worse than Paisley - would rather the scum of the earth had my back any day of the week.

Jacs is right in that she says there are problems across every housing estate in the UK, drugs alcohol abuse and anti social behaviour exists in all areas of society, not just Paisley and in my experience of the town it is most certainly not the majority.

I am being very diplomatic whilst reading this thread.

I used to smoke, actually we both did.

We chose to quit and have succeeded over 9yrs now the best thing we've ever done, health wise and financially.

It's hard to quit and some people just can't, yes there's e cigs etc but when your carrying a child and smoking I cannot condone this. Everyone is entitle to their opinion and the choices that they make.

yeah I know that it's happening all over Britain and no doubt the world, but this post was aimed at paisley so I was giving my input. I know all to well about these kid's that end up in care etc dew to neglectful/selfish parents. I worked in the Kibble so seen first hand the damage that's been done to kid's. I believe that drug an alcohol dependant people shouldn't be aloud to have children untill the correct method of help/treatment has been in place. There are people whom can't have children, and most just seen these kid's as sums of money rather than our future leader's of industry.
