Champions League qualifying round and thus by definition the Champions League tournament.

Here we go again

We're on the road again

We're on the road again

We're on our way to PARADISE

We love the Jungle deep

That's where the Lion sleeps

For then those evil eyes

They have no place in PARADISE

6-1 defeat against a well organised but distinctly average team is the best that the team that won our Premier division by a mile can muster? The fact that Scottish teams are such a joke in Europe should worry fans of every team in Scotland at how far our game has regressed. If I was a Celtic fan I would be demanding answers about how a team that qualified for the knockout stages a mere year and a half ago can end up with such an embarrassing reversal at such an early stage.

Because there is simply no money in Scottish football at the moment, so we can't afford to attract any big players. Also like you said we won the league at a canter last season so not really had any competitive games to play.

After the joy of the Scottish success in the Games to see our so called SPL Champions defeated so easily and at the first hurdle is embarrassing

The really worrying thing is that with Rangers, Hearts and Hibs all playing in the Championship this season the Premiership will be even less competitive, crowds will dwindle even further and the cycle will continue. Personally I can't wait till Rangers and the 2 Capital teams are back where they belong. As for Europe? As long as the gulf in finance between Scotland and English & Continental teams remains the same nights like last night will become increasingly common.

I agree yes at the time I found it hilarious Rangers getting relegated to at the time division 3, but I know see how not having them to bring in the crowds. How I can't wait for the next old firm game nothing beats it. Never thought I would say this but best of luck next season Rangers.

Scottish "Fitba" needs to get its act together. League reform is needed desperately....Problem for Celtic this year will be lack of competition, and with no champions league they will lose players, and find it even more difficult to attract new players !!....and if we don't get out of the 1st divi or championship (or whatever its called this week)....were going bankrupt !!!

Yeah it is Mikki but on the evidence of last night Legias hunger and desire was far greater than Celtics. I grew up in a time when Scottish clubs were respected in Europe and were regularly competing in the latter stages of European competition. What you had then that is absent now was competition from the "New Firm" of Aberdeen and Dundee Utd, a strong Rangers, Hibs and Hearts. Scottish football is in fire straits and unfortunately I don't see a solution on the horizon!

The problem with scottish football is we don't help each other look at the german league Dortmond nearly went bust 4 years ago do you know who bailed them out there biggest rivals bayern munich as they knew they needed them for the league to survive and the average cost of a season ticket in germany 150 eruo's Scottish foot ball is over priced and everyone just wants to kick the other teams when they are down just saying like

I'd go with that plus a ruling that every team in every game have to play 3 under 21's in their starting line up, not just have them in the bench getting splinters in their arses

Feel the same about the humiliation side. We would be setting ourselves up for further embarassment. But rules are rules, no matter how long he was on the field. It was Legia's managements responsibility to make sure he was eligible to play. Think it will just be a fine tho. K x

It seems a bit harsh on the Polish lads. Apparently a similar situation occurred in 2010 with a Hungarian team, Debrecan, bringing on an ineligible sub in a game they were 4-1 up in. UEFA fined them but did not expel them on the grounds that the team had 'no interest in fielding this player for the last 3 minutes when the score was so clearly in their favour.'

I've heard some Celtic fans countering that with the argument that he was unregistered as opposed to suspended, but I don't think that washes at all. The exact same applies - this guy was never going to make the minutest difference to the outcome of the tie, supposing he pulled out a gun and shot his own goalkeeper. UEFA set their precedent in 2010 and to deviate so massively from it stinks to high heaven. I wonder what they would have done if it was Man City, Barcelona or Bayern that had made such a trifling error? Given the opposition a walkover? Not in a million years. Rules are rules - for some.

This is nothing against Celtic, who did nothing wrong apart from play horrendously - and if the tie had been balanced at 5-5 or 5-4 when he came on then maybe fair enough, but to suggest this was UEFA's only option is nonsense.
