Plenty of north and south Lanarkshire areas start with a G post code...some it seems will dispute whether that's considered Glasgow or not though lol.

There's no disputing the Glasgow boundary thing, and it's nothing to do with post codes or phone numbers.

There used to be city boundary signs on the main roads. Being a 'sooth-sider', there was a sign on Clarkston Road at Muirend.

Another signed boundary was at the Merrylee shops on Fenwick Rd.

I'm sure an old Ordnance Survey map would show the boundary. Technically, Glasgow was in Lanarkshire!

Perhaps the test should be which council you pay your Council Tax to.

"Surely it's the Glasgow council boundary "

Well I suppose it's an age thing! I was of course originally referring to the old Glasgow city boundary, which I would respectfully suggest is the true Glasgow.

The confusion comes thanks to stupid politicians who thought by changing boundaries, and of course the biggest farce was regionalisation, or whatever it's official title was, they'd have a better chance of winning an election.

But it most certainly doesn't go by post codes or phone numbers. Much of Sutherland has a KW post code, Kirkwall, but by no stretch of the imagination could the inhabitants be called Orcadians!

if people have a connection to the city and wish to call themselves Glaswegian then that's upto them I really don't see any problem with it.

I left Glasgow 30years ago but still consider myself as Glaswegian... Home is where the heart is n all that.

Born in Glasgow and lived all my life within 5 miles of the City Centre, have a G postcode and a 0141 phone number.

However I live approx 1/2 a mile across the City boundary.

Am I a Glaswegian or what
