yup should have got police as insurer would have applied for their report. Unfortunately under the circumstances its your word against the other drivers

near Glasgow

Don't know if it would have helped in this situation, but looking to get one of these windscreen cams, always on recording when ignition is on.

Wonder if DLT has one, a lot of truckers have them.

ALWAYS report an accident to insurers immediately Bru. Take pics & report to the police. Get an incident number. Witnesses help.

No matter how apologetic they seem or how much of a son story they give you if it's their fault then get it documented & reported. Sadly there are a lot of nasty gits out there that seem plausible but when it comes to money, an increase in their premiums etc then tough. Make em pay. The insurance companies don't care & can't know the true circumstances so always get police to attend.

Lesson learned, but that's increased premiums for you for a few years dude.

Has anyone tried a cam? They seem like a good idea and I think record on a 5 minute loop - guess won;t help if someone reverses into you when the engine is switched off though?

Unless the road is blocked or there are casualties the police will not attend unless your lucky. I was at fault a few years ago clipped a parked car at 10 mph , went into house to tell owner who then claimed I propelled his car 15 ft into his van then the corsa bounced back 15 ft. Slight damage to his bumper. Age old damage on his van. So I called police to be told to do one, useless gits. Months later his insurers and him were still pursuing me, luckily I took tons of pics of all damage and car positions etc. My insurers told em to bugger off and just settled the minor damage. 2 years later he tried to pursue me in court through solicitor for van damage. Luckily my ins who I hadn't renewed with supported me and were willing to defend me. Some tossers out there.......
