So sad to see such an iconic building destroyed. We are shocked. Last week we walked past it and chatted about our memories of the place. Glasgow will be very sad tonight.

Aw devastating for the area. I went to school about 100 yards away from it. Often walk up there on my lunch break.

So much history in that place. Gutting, visceral pain over the loss of such an iconic building.

Caprona

Projector exploded, creating sparks onto foam in the basement.

I was looking at both buildings on Wednesday morning, the new building looked okay.

I was at the degree show at Duncan of Jordanstone today and people were visibly upset when the news hit.

Very, very sad.

I was round there earlier, looked like a lot of damage, but as was said earlier no one was harmed and the firefighters were doing a great job as usual.

feel sorry for the students who lost their work, some of them were distraught.

Arses need kicked....as people say its an iconic building, however ,most buildings are safe until you put people in them.

There was a 'wee' clip on tv tonight showing the building in its full glory. but did anyone else notice the fire doors within the building were wedged open. Suffice to say, if doors are wedged open, then fire will inevitably spread very rapidly.

Peoples attitudes are, it will never happen to us, well it fookin did and with a vengeance.

Those responsible for the day to day management of the building have a lot of explaining to do. The building should have and more than likely have a fire risk assessment. If so, something's went pear shaped

If accepting a projector went on fire as reported, why didn't anyone, primarily the person who switched it on, tackle it at the early stages?

As said, questions need to be asked and arses kicked big time.

A bold and energetic piece by the artist, both invigorating and enervating the _iewer who almost feels compelled to join in this aria of glorious tempestuosness.

So....there weren't any Fire Extinguishers in the basement then ?

Or none of the Students knew how to...or were willing to use one ?

A Very sad day indeed !

At least they seemed to have saved 90% of the structure ....and possibly up to 70% of the contents ?

But is that saved ... but water damaged now ?

Very glad no one was injured !...but a very sad day for Glasgow.

Ok we lost a building we lost some exam work all replaceable we lost no lives a building as old and complex could easily have taken lives.

I might do a painting of it...and earn big bucks!

oops, really..it'd be for a social commentary really...honest!

It is a shame..however it also a shame that many of the art world actually werent keen on MacIntosh's works...until it became a cool money spinning fad!

the pretentiousness of the art world has always amused me..I was told of for drawing comics when I was in art by teachers, and in artschool(when I attended some courses)...comics were for children and not an art form I was told.
