We were thinking of having a party and we're wondering what people expect from these and if there were any general advice you lovely people could give. It would be at our house so just need an idea of other peoples experiences, good or bad.

We played spin the bottle at another couples house one night. It was a bit of fun and certainly broke the ice!

Its definitely the people that make any party so as long as you've got a good bunch, things should go pretty well.

Guess the cock, basically opposite of blind mans muff, take for example the women out the room, get the men naked from the waist down, then bring the women in one by one(blindfolded of course)and they have to guess which is their partner by touch alone.

blind mans muff its the guys who are blindfolded

Give people the option and assure them there is no expectations to play if they don't want to . Always think if no pressure upon guests it works better with them. Try making it fun and light hearted for me is whay attracts me to parties

As someone who has held regular parties might I suggest having a theme! I have had movie stars, musicians, Halloween, boss's and secretaries etc and I would hand out little presents for the best. I always made it clear that it wasn't obligatory but it did help break the ice. I never set any rules where to play but found most people respected that upstairs was for playing and downstairs for socialising, although by the end of the night there was usually an overspill (if that phrase can be used). The only other advice I would give is expect a few drop-outs and make sure that no-one feels uncomfortable or pressured....and finally don't forget to invite me!!!

If you want a hilarious icebreaker game, play a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity.

You really get to know how filthy people are with that game

Bit like Blankety Blank

You get a black card with a sentence or phrase on it with missing word. Each player gets seven cards and chooses one of those to insert in the blank space.

We played it where the dealer licks a winner and a loser. Winner obviously deals next round, loser has to strip something or dare. Game is the best. Some folks may know as apples to apples as well.
