Looking at replacing my old TV (seriously old, has a tube etc) with a new flat screen.

Worried about the sound quality from these, do I need a sound bar?

The sound off a modern tv is generally good. You can of course enhance it with a sound bar but its not necessary

Best to do some research, check out the spec of equipment and visit places with a sound booth to get an idea of quality.

You can always buy a sound bar or surround sound later if you think its required.

You'll be too busy say "wow look at that picture" to worry about the sound lol

But yeah pop into somewhere like Richer Sounds to check out a new TV as they have better knowledge plus the store is a lot smaller so you'll get a better understanding on the sound coming from each TV rather than a big store that the sound will get lost in

E.K . Glasgow

Tesco's now doing free 5 years warranty on some models + if you join richer sounds mailing list you get 5 free year warranty too . If you had a large tv with large speakers as some Toshiba sony Panasonic and jvc TV's had they had really good sound so even though scale went up to 50 or 100 you may never had the volume over 15 or 20 new ones may have to go a little higher on the scale to get same volume your used too . Some TV's like lg have a large speaker in the back as well only good thing about going to j lewis or currys you can see round the back then buy from where you want . Make sure if you want a soundbar to get one that is either wireless or optical input to match tv you buy .

Also if you get a warranty in Richer Sounds and don't claim it then you are able to claim back the money for the warranty which is rather decent
