Not really a football fan but the first live football match I watched was Hearts v Airdrie back in the 70s at Tynecastle. Only seen a handful since.

I remember them coming so close to wining the league under Alex McDonald at time the old firm were at their peak.

Sorry to hear of their situation.

Can tell you arent a huge football fan, either that or youre a Rangers fan as your recollection of things is a little off. Nobody rallied to have Rangers relegated. Rangers DIED. Finished, gone, Nadda. What fans of other clubs objected to thus forcing their clubs to then object to was the plan to allow the reincarnation of dead Rangers which for some reason was allowed to be called Rangers aswell as rather bizarrely being permitted to buy the history of the dead club a place in the top division. Rules were bent to even allow them in the league set up at all. Its a total myth peddeled by head in the sand Rangers fans and the west coast media that Rangers were relegated. Its also a myth that it was anyone elses fault apart from Rangers. The Rangers we see now ARE NOT the same club of pre 2012.

As for hearts I am no lover of them but they have handled their difficult situation with dignity unlike the now defunct Rangers

There is a simple way to remove the financial dificulties. Make football amature. No money in it you play because you want to. You have a 9-5 mon-fri job train at night and play on Sat afternoon.

Before Im lambasted as a fool, I know this would not work. My other solution wouldnt work either as it is a little idealistic.

Every player signs the same contract as you or I do. It ends at retirement they start on min wage and progress up the scale dependant on experience work ethic and skill.

You are right it wouldnt work, u would adopt a system like germany with their 50+1 rule giving a proper voice to fans in the running of the game and eliminating the need for wealthy benefactors.

"Im just waiting for the abuse when ratshit finally sees this "

No abuse from me as you have quite simply got your facts wrong. Hearts have been relegated but are "at present" still a viable working club albeit in administration, Rangers on the other hand went kaput and were reformed as a new club/company under the same name.

I, personally, did not "rally" to see another club go down and not all supporters should be tarred with the same brush.

As for being in the Championship next season, bring it on. It will be a far more exciting league to play in than the pish that the SPL has become in recent years.

If anyone needs reminding all the clubs in the SPL voted to have Rangers ejected from the top flight, should anyone feel any pity for Hearts- I don't think so, Hearts has died for the same reason Rangers did, financial mis-management by so-called businessmen, they are to blame for what happens when it's them who own the club- the buck stops with the clubs chairman and directors

Better to watch Motogp and superbikes.Good old fashioned gladiatorial sportsmen, pitting their skills against one and other, without a thought to their hair(helmet hair lol) or falling over and crying

Ooh! And the leather clad fit bods(gill)

Completely agree Tommo.

But is there any football fan on here that misses the great times of Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen winning the cup winners cup, Jim Macleans Dundee United squaring up to the best teams in Europe, Alex McDonalds Hearts getting to the last day of the season with a chance to win the league. And the Helicopter Sunday when Celtic lost the title on the last day.

And we had world class footballers like Dalglish ( I've only ever had three man crushes in my life...Kenny Dalglish,Rory Gallagher and Eddie Grey) Hansen, Bremner, Souness, Law, Cooper, Rough, Lorimer, Wark, Greig, Johnstone, Mcleish, Miller.......going to have to stop now cause I'm getting goosebumps......

Why are we not producing players of that calibre now.....

correction- rangers were defunct/liquidated/gone as an entity, therefore their membership of SPL was no longer valid. they were not relegated/booted out/ voted down. as a 'new co club' with sizable support base and financial benefits to other clubs, a vote was taken to perhaps allow them to join SPL As this was a breach of rules they were permitted to join SFL at the lower end like any other new co club. the inverness almalgation of clach and thitle didnt get straight into SPL after inception .... and that m'lud is the case for the truth

But hey ho...its only a wee diddy league "

Well seeing as the SFA is effectively Campbell Ogilvie the less said about that the better. Now, if UEFA recognise the new rangers as the same as the old, why wouldn't they have been allowed to play in Europe for 3 years?

you cant vote anyone out of spl who do not have a valid membership....rangers were liquidated so the spl membership was revoked as per spl rules already in place agreed by all member clubs incl rangers !. ps there are NO CATHOLIC CLUBS in spl all spl teams have ALL colours, creeds

Utter rubbish. Rangers were not voted out of the SPL. The vote to let them back in went against them as did the vote to let them in the first division. They shouldn't even have been allowed in the 3rd division.

As for rangers suffering. Dont make me laugh. Everyone connected with rangers were happy enough to pick up wages the club couldn't affor and pick up trophy's they cheated to win. As for glee there was plenty of that among opposing fans and who could blame them when rangers cheatery finally caught up with them

Never ever heard such bias against a football team and to slander the players is just not on- club trophies are given when a team does well, not because of a long-term religious prejudice held against a team, as is prevalent in Glasgow, a pal of mine told me Rangers had more respect and appreciation in Division 3, than they ever did in the SPL, all those who dissed Rangers you should hang your heads in shame-

Youre the only bangin on about religion. That had absolutely nothing to do with them going bust or the new club quite rightly not being allowed to just pick up from where the old club left.

As for the truth I suggest you stop listening to rangers fans if you want that

farrys law will state that in any duscussion of scottish football its only a matter of time before it becomes an old firm pissing contest.

I honestly will never understand why people feel the need to comment on teams they don't support.

I know it's all a bit of banter but it gets a bit tedious at times. I'm a Rangers fan, we're not all idiots. I know what happened to my club but I support them thru and thru because they are MY club. I'm proud of how far they have come and in all honesty I hope they don't get back to the SPL cause of how childish supporters of other clubs can be. I don't particularly care for certain clubs but I don't comment on them because that would be wasting my energy on something I put no effort or money into supporting.

I'm in a bitchy mood tonight so excuse the rant but I had to get that out.

I would be more concerned about the other side of the City who have signed a shoplifter, and now an alleged racist and a complete embarrassment to his club and country.

Some young kids look up to footballers as role models, but that clown would be in the jail if he wasn't a footballer.

He's a disgrace and no wonder the Police are now involved after what he done recently.

Rangers died?? did they?? Once again getting your fantasies mixed up with reality.

Fair play - crowds at Dundee Hibernians are up this season. The average has gone up from a mind blowing 7,547 average last season to 7,607 this season. You know when you support a diddy club when a climb of 60 people through the door equates to thriving

Maybe the sponsors are more concerned with the drop of 50k per week at Ibrox and 30k per week at the Emptihad. Wait a minute there are no sponsors for this thriving product anymore

Was not speculation, thats fact, tax office fought not to have them liquidated, white owed , again if memory serves, 5 million or summit like that , the rest was the underhanded payments by the previous regime, murray n co. , just like ferguson at man utd, murray got out before the shit hit, except fergie did it respectfully lol

I never mentioned cheating, merely posting facts on why the business which owned rangers were not liquidated, but as per most you try detracting to the opposite end of the city of the supported team and point out their discrepencies rather than continuing on the topic which you raised your point upon. Lord Nimmo Smith:

"Rangers FC did not gain any unfair competitive

advantage from the contraventions of the SPL Rules

in failing to make proper disclosure of the side-letter

arrangements, nor did the non-disclosure have the

effect that any of the registered players were

ineligible to play, and for this and other reasons no

sporting sanction or penalty should be imposed upon

Rangers FC."

The Law Lord statement didn't stop the haters trying to kill off Rangers, even though there was no advantage. What with White and everyone else sticking the boot in, is it any wonder why we are angry at our treatment?

Careful now, when you present the facts you will be scuppering so many of the obsessed wank bank material.

Its all about the Rangers but lets have a round of applause for the extra 60 hardy souls who roll up at Tannadump every week.

It's booming so were told, unfortunately any potential sponsors dont seem to agree.

Hearts deserve to be relegated and Sevco shouldn't even be in any professional league at all....amazing how the rules were bent to get them into the bottom flight.

Fact is...Scottish football has been pish for years because it all comes down to incompetent boards of directors.

Latest example being the media frenzy wanting to get Dundee promoted cos they have a bigger support than lowly Hamilton....favouring a "bigger" club who have been in administration twice in the last few years and yet again are spending outwith their means over a team with no debt, promotes young Scottish talent and is actively encouraging youth projects on every level throughout it's community.

Scottish football is corrupt and has been for a long long time
