Stopping smoking

Last day on the cigarettes for me, decided to be good & give them up. Anyone any good advice from when they stopped?x

Don't give in to your cravings just keep going and set your self treats at the end of everyday as a motivation

Don't give in to your cravings just keep going and set your self treats at the end of everyday as a motivation "

I'll try anyway maybe someone should be giving me treats at the end of the day for being good haha xx

My mother kept a packet and a lighter with a skeleton on it in her cupboard. She used to say if she continued to smoke she'd become a skeleton - hence the lighter. She stopped rather than reduced. Went straight from smoking 20 a day for years to zero overnight.

I found it much easier to quit cold turkey than to use gum or patches or anything,it's just a constant reminder that your not smoking. Try amd remember that your not losing anything your gaining health and money,helped me good luck! After a week or two you start to see the benefits and it will all be worth it

Yeah I'm just not going down the route of patches etc, going cold turkey . Think the 1st few days will be hard but hey as you said well worth it & thanks xx

If you can save the money you would have spent in a bottle jar or something then spend it on something nice for yourself even a get away break . Good luck

Think I'll save the money up I would spent & at the end of the year donate half of it to a good charity for xmas & thanks xx

Read the Allan Carr book. 5 hours of reading and we both stopped. 10 months now and saving between 400/500 a month.

Put your ciggie money in a pot each day or transfer each week into a savings account. You will be surprised. Good luck. X

The nicotine inhalator worked for me, been off them for about eight years now. One thing I did was keep an unopened ten packet in the house when I was stopping. For some reason having them there,and knowing that if I was really climbing the walls I could have one, really took the pressure off rather than not having them at hand. It's horses for courses though. Best decision I ever made and I wish you all the best in your endeavour.

A craving only lasts a short while. So whenever you crave a ciggie find something to distract yourself with.

You can get an app through NHS which tells you how much you are saving etc. i found it a lifesaver!

Be patient and reward progress

I'm off to see a nurse tomorrow at local medical centre, to get help to stop! Been wanting to stop for a long time! I would say don't try the E-cigs, theyre a lot more addictive than normal cigs and a lot worse for your health too!!

Hope she's a hot, naughty nurse!

I quit in July

Advice brush your teeth when you used to have a smoke. It was the sudden extra hour and a bit to fill that got me. Think about it 20 a day at 5 minutes a time is a hour and 40 minutes.

I tried loads of things

Cold turkey 3 days in 99

Patches 1 week in 09

Champix worked in 13

I refused the classes

Its what works for you really

Good luck again though

Its totally worth it
