Fellow Fabbers - my weight and blood pressure/cholesterol is now at a stage where my health is at risk and I need to do something before I need medication.

Therefore I've joined my local Leisure Centre Gym and have a consultation today followed by gym session.

It's not going to be easy - But I will get there.

I will post my progress from time to time in case there are any other Fabbers who need a bit if support.

Love to you all xx

Good luck. Just don't look for miracles straight away. It takes time.

20 minutes on a bike.

20 minutes on x-trainer.

20 minutes fast walk on tread-mill.

It is a start - but I really enjoyed it.

Great that I could put earphones in and watch the telly on the machines.

Talent was shit right enough.

weight and blood pressure/cholesterol you can control these in a very simple way for those unable to tackle the gym regime ...think about lawn bowls and nooo its not an old mans sport just check out Australia where its a young vibrant sport without the perceived image of the game in the uk ,, now let me explain why..soft grass easy on the joints,, outdoors fresh air...competitive and a game played by many golfers unable to walk the hole course maybe due to injury, sore knees. or just recovering from an injury .good way to keep fit without knocking the shit out of yourself in a gym

In terms of lowering cholestoral studies are starting to show that vigorous exercise is needed to make a real difference. Of course if you're not used to exercising this is something you need to build up to

As my name suggests I have weight to lose.

Cholesterol and blood pressure are fine.

I have been doing Slimming World since November and that's me 4 stone lighter.

Still got a long way to go but there is no rush.....not built up the exercise regime yet but never considered bowls before. Hopefully all the wrinklies at the local club accept me....lol

well done on losing 4 stone as for wrinklys within bowling clubs sadly they are dropping like flys but on the positive side loads of younger people are taking up the sport and many clubs have very active junior sections which attract older siblings .and come the commonwealth games many clubs expect a rise in membership so with almost 900 clubs in Scotland you will find one that's not full of coffin dodgers mind you many at 85 still play very well so outdoor bowls must be good for a long life good luck with your continued weight loss

Good luck with this my friend...

Two years ago Christmas 2011 I was 20 stone in weight. Something had to change. I have three children and my Dr said to me if I did not change my lifestyle I would not live to see my oldest turn 21.

I regulated my diet, but not too strictly as i could not afford to cook separate meals for me and the kids.

After i changed my eating habits to sensible portions and more fruit, I started to work out. I used several different work out DVDs. I ended up hurting myself badly as I could not move with the weight I was carrying.

I turned to gentle exercise in the form of Yoga... Nw this combined with regualting my diet took me 20 stone in April 2012 to a lean, very fit and healthy 11.5 stone by November 2013. I feel so much better, all my stats are that of an olympic athlete.

I would be delighted to help, motivate you and even show you the 5 yoga moves I still use to this day.

Little steps my friend little steps to begin with and remember it is a complete lifestyle change. You can never go back to the bad eating habits and no exercise. But it has to be your choice. This of course does not mean you cant go out get smashed in the pub and get a huge donnar kebab on the way home! Just dont do it every night!
