Money is numbers and numbers never end. If it takes money to be happy, your search for happiness will never end (bob marley)

doe's money truely equate to happiness or can one find happiness without being in possession of an excessive amount of money?

im inclined to agree with you on that..although i think that money can bring unhappiness....the happiest ive ever been in my life was when i had no money....then again i was growing up in the caribbean at the time ...someplace where most folk long to be whether they have money or not lol more money, more problems lol ...i've lost countless friends through lending them money and i've lost thousands trying to help people out of financial difficulties when i could ill afford to lose the money myself lol money is the root of all evil! let's bring back a system or barter!

It's the Easterlin Paradox.

Apparently the happiest people are those who are concerned with the welfare of others. In other words, you'd rather friends got more money than you!

Money doesn't mean happiness. There are things I have that cost nothing that make me happy, and there are things I'd trade all the money I have to bring back. (Would I rather have my mum back or my inheritance? My mum please).

well what if who you have is not who you want to have in your life? Then I guess it's at that point that one can derive some small measure of satisfaction and enjoyment from "what you have" at that point as you know what they say "you can choose your friends but not your family"

Money can't in itself bring you happiness but if your comfortably well off then it takes away financial worries that others have therefor eliminating a lot of stress from your life so you can concentrate on doing things that make you happy. Would much rather have a healthy body than have a healthy bank balance

true happiness come's from within and you dont need money or possessions to obtain it as happiness is a state of mind.....some people find happiness in possessions some people are happier not to have anything...sometimes the things we own end's up owning us....we should all look within ourselves and dig deep and see what really makes us happy....for me personally having lived on all walks of life i've come to realise that my happiness comes from being safe and sorrounded by good people who are trusthworthy, realiable and honest....to have people like that in your life is priceless....quality over quantity...but having said that...a few million quid wouldnt go a miss lol xxx

Money is not the root of all evil, the actual quote is "the love of money is the root of all evil". Focusing on money to the exclusion of all else is not a good thing.

However they don't call it grinding poverty for nothing.

I have been so poor I couldn't afford to buy food and now I'm quite comfortably off and I am much happier. I can afford to pay all my bills and still have money to stuff I like.

I wouldn't want millions, that would change my life far to much.

im inclined to disagree with you there me dear despite whatever the original quote may technically be i would have to say that much evil is initiated as a direct result of money and having grown up in grinding punishing poverty in a 3rd world country i've really seen and experienced things that most folk wouldnt want to believe and i've come to realise many things about the introduction of paper money as a means of currency in modern day society which is why im firmly in favour of returning to a system or barter where people would be less inclined to sit about and wait on a handout or expect the world to fall at their feet simply because they have a whole forest's worth of paper money squirelled away in some offshore bank account xxx

I can see where you're coming from but I think it's human nature to be greedy and whatever system we use there will always be people who abuse it.

The desire to persue wealth and possessions are the driving force for many people and it's what consumerism is based on. I think that tells us a lot about human nature. People are just not nice.

people are parasite's a fact that's further exemplified by the mantra of capitalism in the wall street movie "greed is good" and as with any parasitic relationship the host generally always die's and most definitely suffer's a loss which throw's the nature of things out of balance and this is not good ultimately for all concerned ...such is life!

I inherited a bit of money from my dear old grey haired mum.

I would happily hand it all back to have her around as I miss her wisdom and common sense.

As that is not possible I would rather be penniless but have the love of a good woman.

Access to the things you want in life equates to happiness... Unfortunately in our culture money is the means to that. If there was another way money would be pointless.
