I'm having a couple of nights in Glasgow at the end of the month. What are the local recommendations of things for me to do on a Sunday and Monday in Glasgow?

Glasgow

If you're looking for stuff to do, track down a copy of The List. It used to be available in Euston and Kings Cross stations. It's a bit like Time Out.

For restaurant/ pub advice, there's threads on Fab already. No doubt a specific request (jazz, art galleries, poetry readings or whatever) will bring suggestions.

Enjoy. It's a great city.

One specific suggestion would be the Burrell Collection. Soon to close for building renovation it's one man's collection of art and furniture and .......

While the building is shut, bits of the collection are to be 'loaned' overseas. We may never see it as it is now again.

Thanks for that tip.

I saw the restaurant thread and I will peruse the rest of the Scottish forum before heading your way.

If you're using the underground, go on the website first and get the smart card. It's free to register and will save you a fortune. All tickets cost a lot more without one. You should still have time to sort one out.

It's not a bad city, not as busy as London or as dirty either. Nowhere is that far away and the public transport is nearly as good as Central London so I hope you enjoy your time up here

Not necessarily nicer - just different. Georgian and older rather than mostly Victorian. And it has a castle - but shops only on one side of the street.

I would have said the cail bruich in great western road if it wasn't Monday. Butcher shop is alright but they've changed chef recently and might be hit or miss. Try one Devonshire gardens, la vallee blanche or la parmigiana in the west end all multi rosette restaurants as opposed to the usual glasgow steakhouses
