Children and Young People's Bill

Hi,

Just wondering what people's thoughts on this was.

I think a couple of things are good, like increasing the number of childcare hours, which would allow more parents to work (and therefore contribute to the ecomony) and free school meals (as long as they are healthy).

However, the state guardian concerns me. How strict will they be?

Does anyone have any more thoughts on this?

Are the state guardians really any different from the current people we are in contact with from midwives to nursery school teachers to high school teachers and guidance folks etc.

Any 'help' kids/ young folk can get has to be a good thing in my view as long as it doesn't detract or interfere with traditional parenting.

Agreed on the childcare also, that's a no brainer.

Since the most vocal opposition is coming from churches, I reckon they are just worried they'll get found out kiddy fiddling more easily.

TBH, teachers, health visitors, nursery staff, etc, already have a duty of care to do the sort of things this bill requires them to do. This will simply formalise things. I just wish it had been around when my ex was doing her mind fuck on my kids years ago.

Think he might have meant having a named person for every child, even if they have parents.

Its like that now as when we hsve to sinq a form for daughters school we havr to give our names and also 2 others .

The 'information' was being provided by a representative of Children 1st, the Royal College of Nursing (I think) and a paid liar in a dog collar.

Seems to me that some of this bill makes sense but the whole appointed person thing sounds like its been dreamed up by someone who thinks that they know better than all parents.

while there are some parents who are fuckwits it doesnt mean every kid needs this.

just more nanny state tinkering.
