First and foremost you need todo a CBT before your allowed out on the street. This usually is a single day going through bike handling skills

Then depending in what you wish there is the full course.

Now my daughter in law did the restricted version, exact same course but in a smaller bike. This restricted the size of bike she could ride for 2 years. Built up her road experience on a 250cc before she now rides an 800cc

Both my son and myself went straight for the full test. This is split into 2 tests,

One us done in a grid where basic bike handling skills are assessed similar to your CBT but in a larger bike.

Then there is the road test where you are taken out on the open road and the handling skills are out through their paces. After passing this you are technically licensed to drive any size bike.

I did mine with Ride On check them out online cannot fault them guys were brilliant. Scary thing during CBT is hike handling skills are done in a track on the roof of their premises.

Did mine donkeys years ago in Bristol just as the old two part test was established. The road test was a joke, so easy it was unbelievable. Gave the bikes up years ago. Pedal power only these days.......

Ps just an obvious question. Why not just interweb search " bike training" your area. Company websites have all the facts and costs.......

There'll be a post for the perfect mince and tatties soon......!?

I remember when the test consisted of, read a number plate,a coupke of highway code questions. Then the examiner would tell you the route, (basically, round the block).you would set off and he would observe you at different points,on foot!!!. Do your emergency stop and back to the test centre.

Job done. 30 mins max

Ah, the old days.

Was my intention to do mine back then. Married young and started family so 4 wheels were priority then

Now an old bastard and going back and doing the things I should have done back then, bike, tattoos, etc

Why did I leave it so long.
