I watched this last night, and I was appalled. That is not the Glasgow I know and love, thankfully. I hope the footage was used in the prosecution of those two degenerates.

Sadly what it highlights is that this kind of behaviour is still prevalent in certain parts of society and its only with the advent of camera phones and social media that we're now able to highlight it so easily.

Utter scum though and hope they get whats coming to them!

I went out with a lady from Glasgow a few years ago, everybody said to watch yourself on nights out etc but never saw one bit of trouble, was some of the coolest nights out I've had, very friendly, there's always bam pots in every city just the bigger the city the more of them there are.

Unfortunately people like this do still exist in this day and age. I still get comments from a few ignorant people because I'm English. But this happens all over the country, Glasgow, Birmingham, London. I've seen it everywhere but luckily the next generation is learning to live in harmony with everyone no matter what race or colour they are.

But fortunately, this scum is the minority in Scotland and it was nice to see ordinary true Glaswegians standing up for him against these idiots.

The bald guy got 20 mths for it as it wasn't his first offence . Shocking behavior from the low life cowards ... Good on the busker for not backing down . I'm sure he's had to learn to stand up for himself the amount of times he's been racially abused. !!!

I have worked the doors of Sauchiehall Street for years and seen every type of lowlife that exists there.

The two arseholes that picked on Melo are typical of many of the City's regulars all mouth and no muscle.

Dont be fooled by Melo, he is his own worst enemy. A talented young man with not just a chip but a whole fish supper on his shoulders. He is usually off his face and mouths off, no excuse for the racial abuse, but 99.9% of the abuse he receives is down to his own attitude and not the colour of his skin

The programme itself is very tame, Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday night can be a very unfriendly place.

Always a good laugh when it's pissing down and blowing a gale and you see these women stoating up and down with no shoes, no coats and skirts up their arses

I've been glaswegian for almost all my life(6mths old), I lived with mixed family in very deprived areas.

As much as I can say it does happen, its not been something thats haunted me throughout my life.

Its not the glasgow I see when I'm out I have to say, thats no excuse...just dont want everyone thinking its always like that.

these are two stupid d*unks, somehow unaware they were also being filmed...and if it wasnt the busker, it would have been someone else they would have picked on.

sad to see it though

The "BBC" did not stage anything, or stand by while it happened. The series is produced by Friel-Kean, an independent production company.

The BBC are responsible only for the broadcast content, not for the content filmed by the producers.

It was certainly some of the poorest attempts at throwing a punch I have ever seen, Melo had a good stance though and some nifty footwork, with a bit of training he could be a contender

totally agree we have been going to glsgw for the last 4 yrs since started swinging and never seen one bit of trouble ,also to many ppl looking at the bad side of the programme there was alot of gd also such as the night pastors how gave out flip flops and just tried to help vurnable ppl .

Yeh , Glasgow is a great place but when you get abused by neds time after time just because you get chatting to the local female population you just get fed up and wonder if its really worth the effort. Just as easy to go out in Edinburgh and have a night out, pity coz glasgows a better night out if the urchins stayed under their rocks

the night pastors are a great bunch of folk that can be found all over the country....they are truely champions....i bet ya'll didnt know that the idea/practice originated in barbados and was brought to england and has since expanded out into various place's in the uk and elsewhere in the world

i recently read about a young african student in glasgow being attacked by a group of 6 two of which were females who were all throwing racial abuse and kick's and punches to the poor young fella...as per yet no charge's have been brought against anyone
