So do you believe in Valentine's day or is just an excuse to spend money and way too commercialised .

If you do believe in it, what kind of things do you like to give and receive or is it about doing nice things throughout the day and evening with and for that special person ??

Think its a bit of both to be honest but i do tend to spoil Mrs tht day and we usually go out for a meal. It really is what you make it cos some of the best gifts etc does not have to be the most expensive. Well in my opinion anyway

For the past 13 years, a certain lady has received a card and flowers from across the miles each Valentine's Day.

So I suppose I buy into it, and with a vested interest as at various times over the years I've made part or all of my living from selling greeting cards.

Valentines day is just a farce i mean really? a day to go out getting wined and dined if you don't do that at least more than once in a year what's the point, its a money making scheme to buy a gift for a loved one well that should be happening anyway its just the equivalent of a birthday and christmas all money making.

I love small gestures of affection but don't buy into the Valentines Day thing. Its just so commercialised. Having said that if iI don't get my card there will be hell to pay!!!!

Hmmmm, difficult one to balance really.

everyone loves a bit of romance in their lives, however i agreed with some of the previous posters regarding the commercialisation of love/romance, i find that distasteful.

And anyone who requires a day where society says this the day you show love someone needs to take a look at themselves, show it everyday people.???

Valentines for me is about the secret love not about your partner. I still kind of look on it through a childs nieve eyes. Of fancying someone but scared to tell them for fear of rejection. I may send a card or two but I doubt Ill be getting any this year.

I agree with Fi it is far to commercialised now along with christmas. But it can be fun.

For those of you who dont celebrate saying its a bad day... would it make your day worse if you got a card from a secret admirer?

Lots of mixed views on it. I agree a little effort every day goes a long way and its the small tokens and gestures that mean the most . Its not about extravagant gifts .........

Unless someone wants to sweep me away to a luxury break in the Caribbean then I might buy into it lol
