"there is a bit of unofficial tradition at play with this bothy, in some cases the developers looked the areas they originated from to adopt place names. in the case of castlemilk, the area where the housing scheme is built was once an estate belonging to the stuarts and i believe it was named after the castlemilk you found near lockerbie which if memory serves me right was also owned by the stuarts. There are a couple of books on the history of castlemilk which might give more info regarding this, hope this helps." Thanks for that Bino. Have to say that I'm not into history in a big way, but can find some things interesting and intriguing. And coming across St.Mungo, Croftfoot and Castlemilk in such a small area just demanded further investigation! Googled Castlemilk Estate and the Stewarts were indeed early owners!

Used to have a book explaining place names around glasgow and there are a lot of them connected to the stuarts, especially mary queen of scots. Some of it quite interesting.
