Been back at the gym for a couple of days now, long overdue I know but woke up this morning and feel like I have had a gorilla break dancing on my arms and chest. If I could get my willy to be this stiff, you lovely women out there would be walking like Roy Rodgers hahaha. So any ideas as to how I can soothe my aching muscles, all ideas welcome as long as it doesn't include me windmilling with my arms cause don't think you would be able to stop laughing at a guy, acting like he has just sat on a hot poker with both arms in casts..... Not a very good descriptive I know but I am all sore and cant move my fingers that well to stretch across the keyboard, sore ohhh the pain the pain. You feeling even remotely sorry for me yet. Well I am a bloke. xx

A nice hot soak in a deep bath if you have one followed by a nice full body hot oil massage ...until you can find someone take some painkillers to ease the worst of it xxx

Very good advice and the thought is very appealing to me, however I do not posses a bath just a walk in shower. Trying to shower this morning was hell. I went to run my hands through my hair as the water was flowing over my chest, felt great until I realised my arms felt like they were a rubber band with razor blades. My own fault....... xxx

After a few days the muscle pain should ease up. Make sure you do good stretches before and after workouts too.

I normally do a good warm up but not been to the gym for a few months. Typical bloke thinking I can lift as much weight as I was just before I stopped going.

Minimum 4 litres of water daily and at least, very least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight daily.

Keep going and you won't need to bother with stretching. Just warm up with increasing weight.

Muscle-Fever! That distinctive pain which follows intense or unfamiliar exercise. The pain usually gets worse over the next two days leading to it being also known as DOMS, or delayed onset muscle soreness. There is nothing can be done about it, although its true that drinking plenty of water, eating protein or regular massages can sometimes lessen the pain somewhat. Definitely take some painkillers though to make yourself more comfortable meantime.

Good luck and don't give up.

My arms n chest are back to normal, full service resumes tomorrow. It is great being able to sleep without feeling like I'm laying on a bed of nails lol

Now SOME people might see the bed of nails as a macho challenge - or as a kinky night out.

lol

Get into a routine and alternate exersises (body areas)

I do 1 day legs+ chest (toning), 1 day Arms and Back (heavy), 1 day Cardio and Shoulders (toning), Rest Day, 1 day legs (Heavy), 1 day Arms and Back (heavy), Rest day.

That's just my routine though. Try reading mens health magazine etc but take advice from others in the gym and your Doctor as well before ramping up the training.

Enjoy fella
