Today is the 25th anniversary of the bombing of pan am 103

270 people,259 passengers & crew and 11 from the town of lockerbie perished.

Please take a moment to remember the victims, those who died, the families and friends left behind, the communities which were affected and the emergency responders.

Say a prayer, light a candle or raise a glass in their memory.

Gone but never forgotten.

I was at a mate's house not far from Lockerbie that night, the sky was orange from the flames of the various fires, I can't imagine what it was like in the town itself.

A few of my RAF colleagues were on the search parties. It was a very grim task.

I always think of the disaster when travelling past....

My granny lived in a wee cottage just outside Lockerbie and its a place I know well having spent long summer holidays there. I can remember the day well as my mum had visited to help me out with my wee boy who was very ill at the time. She was travelling home when the news broke and I knew she would be particularly devastated to hear of the huge loss of life in her home town.

Those who perished and those who still bear the scars from their experiences of this tragedy should never be forgotten. A day for sad reflection and remembrance indeed.

The plane passed over our house on its way down had it been 2 minutes earlier we would have perished.

A day that will never be forgotten
