I read somewhere- don't know if it's truth or not, the uk government wanted to implement chemical castration for sex offenders, but apparently- if it's true- then brussels, vetoed the idea, on a violation of human rights issue!!! ffs what about peoples rights to go through life un-touched by sick perverts!!

I am in agreeance with this, however I can see Brussels siding with the criminals when they play the 'human rights' card. I think that if a crime of this nature occurs and you are convicted by '12 men good and true' then hell slap it into you. You should lose your human rights the minute you damage another person for sick perversion.

They do use chemical castration in Broadmoor. It kills libido, but as some said, abuse isn't always sexual. Some people will still sexually abuse even if they have no sexual pleasure from it, they use it as a form of control.

I work with sex offenders, and castration won't solve the problem. By the time we castrate the damage has already been done.

We only castrate AFTER the perpetrator has been caught found guilty and then sentenced. Unfortunately in the case of Ian Watkins and Jimmy Saville the abuse has gone on for decades to multiple victims before they are caught

As has been said, not all abuse is purely sexually motivated. I read a paper years ago where they did the castration thing to rapists, they continued to offend one using a bottle and a tree branch to 'rape' the woman with. It's a power thing with most. Also, whilst I understand the 'hang em high' attitude towards these people who carry out the awful crimes they do, to ignore the issue and fail to try to understand how their mind works ergo understand how to prevent further offences makes us fools. Throwing punishment at them on it's own will never evere make a dent into the management of this type of offender ....know thine enemy....wise words.

to my mind some folk are getting things mixed up yes you get offenders that will re-offend yes you will get those who will use other items to use if castration was all that was used but the programme i watched was about paedophiles not the other folk you talk of there is a very clear distinction! and before any medications or hearings there was clear classification to find out if the offender would be helped with treatment or if it was psycological

for those where sexual gratification was the only motovation the mixture of drugs used killed all sexual desires and for the prisoners inter_iewed most found it a relief to be freed from their demons i am in no way justifying the actions as for me they should have looked for help before perpatrating the crime and for this crime i think the death sentence should be applicable.

Having had 1st hand experience of someone I thought of as a friend turning out to be abusing his daughter - I have bugger all sympathy for his or any other child abusers 'rights'.

They lost all access to 'rights' when they forced themselves on an innocent child.

They trampled all over that child's rights to a safe childhood.

and what off the folks who are wrongly convicted ... castrated to appease and revenge the baying crowds... too often in the past for various offenses many many people have been convicted and spent many many years in prison on false accusations or evidence ..... it may not be to every ones liking but I think the judicial system works although for such offenses such as those involving kids then a much greater term needs to be considered

Case last week down south guy spent 17 years behind bars wrongly convicted of rape, he offered DNA at the time and subsequently after looking at the evidence the DNA was found to be that of another person.

17 years he pleaded his innocence while the real attacker roamed free

what puzzles me, is the lack of understanding, an awful lot of fab folks have children- and would die to defend their sons/daughters, nieces nephews, from those who would use their perversions to get gratification from their actions- all I was saying was let them feel the fear and humiliation, that those abused face- if I am wrong in my _iew, I make no apologies for it, but until we can sit safely knowing our children are safe from sexual deviants, then we must be prepared to use the justice system, to rightly convict pepertrators of such evil, and make them accountable for their actions
