Christmas becoming too commercial?

Christmas is way too commercialized, incredibly but we just can't stop it. In our generation, people care about the presents and always anticipate this holiday. It's not like they only care about the presents either, it's more of the essence of the Christmas spirit i guess. I mean what do you expect, Christmas has escalated to be such a big holiday and so what business wouldn't try to cease the opportunity. You can't expect a business or something to not ride the 'Christmas spirit' to sell . I for one think it's too commercialized also, I cringe when I start seeing Christmas items on sale when it's still October/November but then again, I also enjoy the whole presents and gathering together feel of Christmas because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the actual day. I acknowledge that Christmas is meant to celebrate the birth of Jesus and that its about the love and care but we can also see this through the buying of presents and the gathering of family. So what I'm trying to say is that Christmas is far too commercialized but there are positive points to it

I tend to agree, too many people taking liberties and ripping others off.....specially young families. Glad mine are grown up now.

Other side is that it can make people who are alone feel lonlier as all the hype is about the perfect family gathering when for a lot of people it's not going to be like that abd dont get me started on the bills for it all in January

Getting to the point where I want to hibernate over December.

I swear if I hear Noddy f'n Holder one more time I'll ram the p.a. set down the shop managers gullet sideways.

Why do we shop as if WW III was about to occur. Jesus the stores are only shut for 1 day.

Nice post. As you say the real cost of Christmas comes in january. No wonder more people take their own life's then any other time of the year. Is that I pod worth it ?

I spend time with my kids.

I think of those who've gone but not been forgotten.

My kids get what they need and a few things they would like.

Commercialised? Yes. Do I let it affect my Christmas with my kids? No.

Yes it is way too commercialised these days. I am not doing Christmas this year, and only a few people will receive cards from me. I will be at work, then helping out at a homeless place for an hour before heading back inside and listening to the wood crackling on the fire.

Is Christmas too Commercialized? Yes

Will people stop spending money they do/don't have and stop letting people commercialize it? No
