Does anyone else think there is a clique on here in Scotland?

Unless FAB is your life you get ostracised.

And I'm not alone in this opinion.

well said friends always look out for each other and for many they mistake that as cliques, yes there are of course cliques on here like in rel life but there is certainly a difference between friends n cliques

people on here have friends? Well, fuck me sideways, that must be where I am going wrong!!!!

Fab is "A" part of life, not the be all and end all and, as has been said before, people make friends. It's only natural.

Think to your own group of friends OUTSIDE Fab, do you automatically welcome a new person into your circle and include them with everything and tell them everything?

Define clique.

Are there groups of friends? Yes

Are there groups who actively try to exclude and control? No

We dip in and out of Fab, we have had quite a few meets, we have cammed, we have chatted, we have been to socials and were welcomed (although had to put in a little effort... we talked to people instead of waiting for people to talk to us).

We have never felt excluded, never felt that they have actively tried to shut us out, once they get going the usual suspects can be a little harder to break into but they have never been deliberately exclusive or rude.

Your experience may vary of course...

Agree with this. People form friendships and bonds and are very protective of those things. Not necessarily a clique, just a fact of life.

I'm not aware of being in a clique. I have made friends on here though my constant barrage of nonsense on the forums & attending socials. But that's just getting to know people, right?

Mind you I do judge people who enjoy my posts. Cos they're shit. If you enjoy them, shame on you.

you're funny.I used to be funny and then people stole my funny, I will visit your profile and bask in your funniness.I too love cake and will denounce family and friends , grandmothers etc for cake.

But erm cliques .. every social grouping is a clique in itself in some way.And as in life ( a facet of which FABS is ) there are people on your wavelength that you will click (see what I did there ?) with and those that you won't ..As everyone says, just dive in and be nice and you're on your way, worked for me when I tried it anyway

If there is a clique would you want to be a part of it???

Gonna go against the grain here. We've had a few meets over the years and enjoyed them very much. Also had a connection with the people we've met and enjoyed their company (very much). But.....friends are people we've known all our lives, not people we've met on a website. There is a big difference between friends and acquaintaces.

I may be in the minority here but I find it bizarre that people claim to find lots of friends on here. I could be the one in the wrong though

You're not in the wrong, also you're not 100% right. Each of us will make different kinds of connections in life, whether online or off it. To some, the people they meet on fab are friends, to others they are acquaintances, to others they are just a cock or pussy in the right place at the right time.

I may be old fashioned in a sense. I'm just not into declaring people I've met online to be 'friends'. I realise that some people are, and good for them, but my friendships are generally long lasting and involve people I've known for a long long time.

Totally understand that point of view. Personally I see no difference between selecting a person or persons to talk to online & then spending lots of time with them & selecting a person or persons from those you are thrown together with in work or education to talk to & spend lots of time with. There are of course, levels of friendship & long term friends may well be far dearer to you which is normal.

I'm sorry OP, but you're on a hiding to nothing with this thread. It comes up quite regularly and the result is always the same.

Those who you see as being in a clique will defend and deny it, others will side with you.

You say you feel ostracised, how? D'you mean you want to be part of this supposed clique? You obviously feel 'left out'', so what would you want people to do to make you feel included?

What's the point in bringing this subject up yet again? There are, there is, and there will be. I've noticed a change in the years I've been on and off this site. Some lead, others will follow.

Basically, if you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined! Just a case of getting on with your own thing.

As has already been said, you get out what you put in.

I know quite a few users who read the forums but don't post. I've seen new users get jumped on by regulars for their views but those are in the minority and I have always tried to defend their right to say what they want - even if I don't agree!

My main rule is - 'If you don't like it - don't post on it!'

I encourage everyone to post - there is no wrong way or right way, no wrong opinion or right opinion, just be yourself.

Yes, there are people who know each other better because they talk and meet away from the forum, but that's the same in every part of life.

Just post, have a laugh and enjoy

(Cake is always good though )

if i say something its because its my view its not about rebellion to many especially in the forums shout folk down by the gang jumping on with them perhaps the reason so many folk only lurk in the forums hoping for change to a more balanced give your own opinion and not the party line that seems to be the norm
