I had his words on my office wall for years....

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

A great man.......

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

Such wise words from such a great man. A pity that in so many places around the world and here in our country, hatred is perpetuated from one generation to the next...

GLASGOW

Nelson Mandela will be forever remembered for the great change he brought about, in South Africa without resorting to armed aggression- many cultures and countries could learn from the example of this great man, an ordinary man, who helped change things for the better- few people can say they achieved greatness, while still being humble in character

yes Nelson Mandela was a great and powerful man. He did so many good things for South Africa and Aids charities in Africa. He even was involved in mediating between the UK and Libya during the Lockerbie Trial.

In the beginning it started as a non violent protest, then he led a bombing campaign during the early 60's against government targets. So to say he was a peaceful man isn't really correct.

Sad day for South Africa

RIP Nelson Mandela.

I have been trying to think of a suitable tribute to this remarkable human being. Hope this does him justice.

"The mystery of human existance lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for" Dostoyevsky.

"let freedom reign. The sun never set on so glorious a human achievement.."

A man who overcame hate with love, intolerance with compassion and fear with belief. The world is a darker place this morning without his light.

RIP Nelson Mandela

This is the same man who was jailed for terrorism #just saying

And his wife murdered and tortured untold amounts of people (allegedly)

As this is for people who want to pay their respects , there is a thread in the lounge to discuss the man himself if you want to use that instead

No shorty memory. He was a hero. You think what you want, don't waste a condolence thread for the right minded.

Just saying.....

If you want to debate feel free to PM me..keep it out of here.....

"was he a swinger to"

he certainly had an eye for the ladies

It anyone is interested in seeing past the image and seeing the man, with all his flaws and complexities then i would suggest young mandela by david james smith as a good starting point.
