GLASGOW

regarding fundraising ideas, for the tragic events following the helicopter crash, at the Clutha Vaults, how about some of our famous glaswegians, who made it big in showbusiness, putting their hands in their pockets, its easy to stick a bouquet of flowers down like Billy Connolly has, how about he puts a hefty cheque in for the fundraisers ?

and before anyone says anything, I think these famous folks could and should do it- if the ordinary guy/woman in glasgow can raise money for the victims why shouldnt famous folks give generously???

No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

How do you know they already haven't ?

The Clutha Bar means so much to Billy Connelly so I'm pretty sure he will make a donation most celebrity's do not publicly make it know what fantastic work they do for a lot of charity's .

Money cant bring back what people have lost , flowers are a lovely gesture and shows they have went out their way to pay respect and if these famous folk you speak of had to give hefty cheques to every victim of anything that happens they would be as well just working for nothing .

Well said kola

One of my friends works at a well known hospice and I know from her the generosity that these celebrities do for people on a weekly basis

if they give and it is made public, they are slated for doing for the headlines.

they more than often are dammed if they do, dammed if they don't..

I think even Connolly would admit he spent far more time in the Scotia, another third of the Stockwell Triangle.

I've seen famous people do so much for all sorts of different charities, hospices and hospitals. Sometimes just being there for a few hours is enough to raise patients spirits and speed up their recovery.

As has been said, they don't like it becoming public as they aren't doing it for the publicity.

Sometimes they go public because by doing so it will help raise awareness but rest assured, a hell of a lot of famous folks will be putting their hands in their pockets and put in with the ordinary people to help the families.

Just don't ask who or how much - just smile and know it's been done

what pubs he frequented. wasnt relevant as im sure he frequented many in his time in Glasgow but it was one close to his heart and im sure he will do his bit by putting his hand in his pocket as the op calls it.
