when i have my son

I know you are all going to shoot me down for this but my son is 5 and he plays GTA5 and to be perfectly honest with you i see a big difference in his behaviour he is no longer as rude or disrespectful and i actually see a big difference in the way he conducts himself so for an 18 rated game im finding that its actually having a good effect on his behaviour is it wrong of me to do this? I honestly cant see the problem from being a cheeky wee sod to a polite and happy wee chappy. From people that say it has a negative affect i can only say "Your talking shite" Please display your views all i can say between me and the game its showing my boy right from wrong and giving him a better understanding of this great and shite wonderful world we live in. It cant be all that bad as even my ex has seen a difference "for the good" in his behaviour . So am i good or bad for allowing him to play this ?

Each to their own but I would never allow my young ones 7 and 8 to use it my older son plays it and the sex scenes are far to graphic ,they dont need to see or hear this at such a young age

If my grandson's "dad" bought him GTA V, (and he's only 7), I'd force feed him with it. Case and all.

Why ? People forget that as above you can reduce the content personally i think it gives them more of a life experience do's and dont's i monitor my son while he plays it and to be honest thats what life is all about isn't it? Learning right from wrong and understanding why ? If my five year old can figure out right from wrong through it then why not at least he knows and certainly wont repeat bad words through the game and have had glowing reports from his school recently so yes sure you hear all the bad publicity about Gta v but you never hear about the good either although i would not recommend leaving your son daughter on there own to play it it can be used as a good learning tool at 5 my son plays it as good as me now and says he wants to make games when he's older. What can i say at 5 my son shows lots of pottential in all he does lol.

Put simply, any parental controls can be bypassed by a computer savvy kid, and although he's only 7, my grandson knows his way around technology.

Why are you relying on a 18 rated game to teach your son manners and values? Surely as his father that's your responsibility?

children are forced to grow up far too quickly nowadays.

I will let my kid be a kid for as long as i possibly can and wouldnt let her play inaapropraite age group games

Not going to come in here and tell a parent how to raise their own child!!!

Had to turn it off when he first got it and started playing because my grandson (his son) was like.... ..

He now only plays it when his son in bed...

i think games like that are too old for wee ones like that, i wouldnt let mine play it... there is no need for them to be exposed to things like that...

as for making his behaviour better ??

good behaviour is taught through manners and being brought up with respect...

not a computer game

So you think that a child who is easily influenced by adults can play this game? , pretending to be an adult with guns and bad language and various other dreadful behaviour.

Perhaps hes now mr nice because he knows how to play you.

Hes 5 and he knows right from wrong, so running around killing folk is right? It must be as hes allowed to do it.

Using the language he hears on the game and repeats in school, is that ok? Cos he will be.

Violence towards women is ok, so when school wants to see you about him hitting a girl, do you tell him its ok????

So drugs are glamorised in the game so when in a few yrs he learns they are readily available nearby, is it cool for him to try them???

Being disrespectful to peoples property ok too, after all how do you teach a kid its a game and not real? Thats like telling him santas not real. Kids take whats in front of them as reality, thats why the teletubbies are a hit......COS KIDS BELIEVE TV AND GAMES ARE REAL

Good luck with your teenager.

Obviously cant be arsed doing it the old fashioned way..

Sounds like a mate of mine, weekend dad that sits kid in front of console with dads games while he sits n smokes n pops in and out of his delusional world.

Think some folk are thinking about the game too much have you played it ?? If not is it fair to condemn without knowing thereis freemode on this game no objectives just driving adult content off ........imposdible to hitfolk so where is the harm ? Somtimes folk buy the hype grownup with gaming my kids use games and they know good from bad and are respectful kids as some on this site could confirm

Well....id rather use appropriate learning aids to guide my kids, teach them manners and respect the old fashioned way and thats directly from ourselves and other adults in their life.

As I said before, kids are very impressionable and I think games like this, assassins creed and farcry etc are not suitable. Dont you want good images and thoughts in a childs head??

Not thoughts of aggression and violence.

Our children play games that are appropriate for them and even those are limited in the time they are played. Would much rather the bike n scooters where in the car and taken to a skate park.

If the OP had made any mention of free mode, or turning adult content off while his son played....Comments may have been different...

My kids grew up gaming, but I wouldnt dare compare the games then to the ones available now....

a 5yr old should be playing a game thats suitable to his age, for an appropriate amount of time !!!

Okay so views taken on board yes he plays GTA V but dont dare lecture me on how to bring up my son yes weekend dad which is as hard on me as him. Yes i learn him right from wrong and teach him i dont just sit him in front of the tele i take him to the park play football have also learned him how to swim im not saying im perfect but how and what i learn my son is down to me. Would it suprise you to hear that not only is my son learning through the game and "Me" that he is one of the best behaved and more importantly learning. Just had parents evening last week and they want to move him on a year so well done wee man and me as a parent As with everything in a young childs life moderation and making them aware of life's right and wrongs is vital. People that blame games for there behaviour is wrong everyone should know right from wrong. So to all you dissaproving people out there all i can say is F##K Y#U
