Morning folks......storm on its way I hear...

No need to worry says Michael Fish....

I drive stupid miles a week.....car not lorry.

Recently developed tinnitus which seems to be getting worse or maybe I'm just noticing it more...

Wondering if it's down to the noise levels die to driving....

Any one got experiences of this.....got to the past annoying stage and I'm actually thinking of going to the doctor for the first time in decades...

I usually syringe my own every few months after dropping some sodium bicarbonate in a day or 2 prior.

Seriously you could grow tatties with the amount of shit that runs out ears.

Hearing is improved and less ringing as i work around heavy traffic daily.

Doctors are reluctant to syringe nowadays but just get one from chemist and fire luke warm soapy water into lugs its a fantastic release once done.

ok if your eardrum is intact. One wee hole in it and you will regret firing anything in there for quite a long time

Mr bi suffers from this, there is NO point in going to the quacks! There is no cure! All he was told was to try and relax more. All you can hear is your own bodies electrical impulses, it may go away or it won't. Sorry!

Half an inch of olive oil from a dropper into the ear every couple of weeks will help stop the wax forming in the first place.

try ginko biloba for tinnitus, some people have had results with this. Going to docs is probably a waste of time as there's nothing they can give you for it.

I have suffered since aged 5, following a head injury. I find it increases when I am stressed, and I get different tones in each ear, and they are never in tune.

As for ear syringing, it SHOULD only be done by a trained medical professional, and if you have a wax problem, prevention is better than cure. Use drops or oil, and keep them clean. As someone said above, a perforated eardrum is an easy thing to do, and a difficult thing to fix. This is why Mrs Magnet has to wear expensive digital hearing aids.

Also a sufferer following someone letting off a banger behind my ear about 25years ago. The whole right side of my face went numb for days.

Upshot is I get distorted sound at certain frequencies and the continual high piched whine that varies in intensity....

Put paid to my singing career...

Have never tried any remedies - I just tolerate it. Worst thing is not being able to listen to music or a film at the correct volume..

Please Please be careful with the syringing....Mrs Pip, has had a perforated eardrum on a couple of accasions, and its pretty dammned painful. She has also been left slightly deaf in one ear!

On the UP side, I read recently about a couple of Irish girls who have developed a possible cure for tinnitus! They have discovered that the "ringing" is caused by the tiny hairs/sensors in the ear being "flattened" by trauma, loud music, prolonged noise etc. Instead of all hairs standing upright some are bent over and cause a resonance which can be quite unbearable.

Their answer/cure was to emit a low level frequency sound which agitated the "bent" hairs and made them stand up straight again, thus relieving the constant ringing sound!.....I'm over simplifying this just to keep it as short as possible, but i'm sure if you google it you can find the article.

Hope this helps!

He has had it for five years now. It literally started overnight. He said he's got used to it but it saddens him because he knows he'll never have his own personal silence again.
