Used to get Curries and Alpine delivered. Curries' red cola was the best, closely followed by Alpine's limeade and pineapple. I think Curries are still on the go, but I haven't seen a delivery van in years.

sometimes the coalman sold them as well, usually you bought two bags of coal and a dozen briquettes if you could afford them.

Solripe were connected to Joseph Dunn (Bottlers) Ltd of Blackfaulds Pl, Glasgow.

Dunn even bottled Guinness at one time.

At least in the era of the ginger run it was mostly glass bottles. The pop boy took them back and deducted the deposit from your bill.

Now it's all plastic and limited recycling.

My mother.....being my mother, bless her...would NEVER allow fizzy juice in the house. BUT... when i used to stay on my aunties farm in the holidays a huge highlight was the Solripe lorry. An assorted crate every week. Now my auntie was a stunningly beautiful lady with a figure like Sophie Loren who used to giggle constantly....and i always remember a visit from "Mr Pop" as he was known was always the cue for massive hilarity and us all getting shooed upstairs while the "delivery" took place. You dont think?.....Naw...surely not!!! My favourite was the limeade....swear you could see it in the dark!!!

Old Joe Dunn bought them out

Or he bought Garvies, Curries, Robertsons and one other I can't remember jokingly remember as the 5 Families

Used to do his accounts for him out of Blantyre

Now called Dunns Food and Drink
