Over the last year or so I have become a real bookworm, I have my kindle , kindle fire and have started a (small) collection of books.

It's quite handy that I work in a thrift shop as I get them at ten a penny.

SO what I would like to know;

Do you prefer to have your books brand spanking new from a bookstore or are you a person who goes into to second-hand bookstores

Or neither of the above and buys online for their ebook reader ie kindle, mono.

Doesnt matter to me if they are new or second hand,as long as its not a second hand copy of one of the top shelf monthlies

Depends, after a year in Belfast new books were the norm.

Lack of decent second hand stores led me to Waterstones and WH Smith. In Canterbury I was on first names terms with every shop. Being back in Glasgow, I miss the shops that folded over the years. The remaining shops are good, yet have to compete with Amazon market and Ebay. E books are an easy way, for out of print stories to be rediscovered though.

I quite agree with you, I think e books will unfortunately take over, nothing beats reading a proper book.

I don't mind wether it's a second-hand book or brand new.

I like the 'feel' of a book.

Doesn't bother me if they are new or second hand. I love them no matter where they came from.

i love reading and have passed the love of books onto my children and grand children espescially the youngest one at 19 But can i say he is like me aand will allways prefer the paperback kind and does not like Kindle .Now dont junp down my throat if thats what u prefer all good luck to you

Don't have a kindle. Unfortunately, the books I'm reading these days tend to be children's books that I read with my little girl.

I even know the hungry caterpillar by heart. But I don't think you can beat a real book

I have a kobo which I use a lot, but love a proper book, new or second hand, doesn't bother me. got b=about a dozen waiting on the shelf lol

I can't read "books" on my laptop, it just doesn't seem right. I don't have an e-reader, obviously, but you don't really get picture books on them, do you? (I read a lot of books on photography & art, and they have pictures, mostly). I suppose the same thing goes for magazines like Cougar Weekly. I've never seen a link for the Kindle edition in it.

Anyways.. I love books, the papery kind.

Buy books with the best intentions, thinking im buying stuff i will be really into, Keith Richards biography was last book i started.

The Child Called IT, is the one of few i read from start to end.

I love new books, second hand books, books on my kindle - all kinds of books. I've been a book worm since I was a wee girl. I often could be found in the book section of big department stores! I always smelled new books first! lol

Was put in the special-slow class for reading in primary school, i knew it, teachers loved reminding us all of it!! Yet essentially we could read, just asking a kid to stand up in front of a class full of other pupils i think never helped!

I doubt myself with a book in my hands, a bit sad really.

have loads of books only ones i buy brand new are those by my favourite author and therefore can't wait to read the next one. though like the OP have worked in charity shops and bought some there or at boot sales too. in process of adding to my kobo collection too
