Is Romance Dead?

Do gents or ladys do the big gesture any more in the real world or indeed in fab world?

What's the most romantic thing you've done or done for someone?

Is it the little things a person does or the big gesture that you find more romantic?

For me I would say a bubble bath, glass of wine and strawberries, with soft lighting and relaxing music would make me a happy camper. Yet to have that though...

I've cooked a lovely meal for someone, and did the music etc.

I spent a fortune on drink and food at Corinthians and Hadrians Brasserie. Was it worth it? Yes. Romantic... I would say so. Not had the luxury of enjoying a nice candle lit bath, or those sorts of things one day perhaps.

I prefer giving than receiving altho a nice surprise is always welcome .

Ive been surprised not so much in a romantic way the past few months on here by someone but in a really nice way in that they listen to things I say and act on it which has been lovely .

cant say what yet but im doing a nice thing for someone as a thank you for something they done for me recently just hope they like it lol

always pays to make an effort. my ex was really into strictly come dancing n all that melarky so booked the two of us on a mini break for a weekend learning ballroom dancing. she hadn't a clue about it until we got there n she realised what it was all about, to my surprise I really quite enjoyed it but more importantly she was so ecstatic about the whole experience she went the extra mile in other ways and made it a bloody great weekend for me too in other ways. give and you shall receive as they say

Romance and swinging don't go together....

In a vanilla relationship yes.....not a swinging one.....

For me anyway

Not romantic, but more just a lovely heart warming gesture i got a few months ago. Took a friend to a concert, someone we both love listening to.

A few days later, a lovely thank you card through the door, totally unexpected and so thoughtfull, big daft smile on my face for ages etc.

I love a bit of romance. I sort of agree that swinging and romance shouldn't necessarily go together but if its a regular fb then it can still be good.

No judgement on those who don't enjoy it as everyone likes different things. In fact my mood dictates how I want things to be sexually as much as anything else and sometimes it's just as nice to be seduced as it is to be thrown down and given it hard and fast

Yes , it's as dead as Frankenstein and his bride or Dracula and his many brides !

Always a nice gesture when the guy sleeps on the wet patch tho - so maybe in some ways it's not dead !

It seems to be a womans option on fab, in terms of opting to be,either play it swingingly or do the romantic thing with a fav meet. Guys tend to not have that choice, your regarded as a swinging meet, a bit of fun, which is cool, thats swinging after all.Yer either brave or daft to try the woo her, romance her thing, because it tends to either be appreciated or gets her running a mile away from you in a very short space of time, never to see her again!!

Over the last few years i've met some lovely solo women on here who have gone on to be either, in a serious relationship, or even became married.

Could i of been that serious partner to them? No. I'm a swinger, chose the swinging life years ago, but im also human and i miss not seeing them, being able to see them certainly.

This sort of thread highlights how swinging is different things to different people, imho. And how different people use this site in different ways.

I've done what I would regard as basic one-off swinging meets which are fine, with little more than sex on the menu. But I don't see treating a lady as a lady, and providing some 'extras', necessarily co-relates with disappearing off into the sunset with her!

Romance will never die. Even in a place like this were romance takes second place to sex. But just look around and you will see romance is still going strong all over this site

I don't think it is dead. C has been away for 2 weeks with work, and still has managed little texts and phone calls to brighten my day. So when I see him properly at the weekend, when we both have a clear non work day, I'm sure he will have something special lined up for me.

Mike and I have fun on here but that's exactly what it is, fun. What we have together is totally different and we do lots of what we see as romantic things for each other. He brings me breakfast in bed which he's cooked while I "recover", lol. I buy a wee foodie goodie bag of his fav things if we're going to be apart, he brings me flowers ... When he was away studying he'd called me after I'd texted I'd had a crap day and needed a hug to ask if I still needed a hug. When I said yes he said open the door then. He was standing there with a bunch of my favourite flowers So romance is def alive and well, at least with us. Sx

Wasn't talking about just on here if you had read my other posts. And yes sometimes a bit of fake romance on here can be nice. Especially if you are having a crap time. Someone saying you look lovely and then pouring you wine and feeding you strawberries can make you feel a shitload better. Doesn't mean you want to run off into the sunset with them...

What song is that. We not talking about love. And to shag someone you got to have some feeling for them, even if it just lust. To treat a lady nice has nothing to do with love in my book

" To treat a lady nice has nothing to do with love in my book "

Agree 100%!

It's only my humble opinion, but I think a lot of people on here get very confused with regard to love, romance, emotions, committment, NSA, etc.

Personally, my basic attitude towards a lady would be the same whether it was a first meet or we were approaching the 1st anniversary of that 1st meet, having met a number of times during that year.

It costs nothing to be nice and respectful. Here endeth the first lesson!

Romance is based on your own interpretation of it.....

Guy shows up with flowers/wine....

Guy shows up with a small cuddly animal on a key ring (animal that I collect)..

Which one made me say "Awwwwwwww...ty"..?

Not romantic, but the closest thing to it from someone never met before....

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

Romance is maybe not dead, but I am damn well trying to club the bastard into submission

I don't do romance or stupid gestures. I'd far rather someone listened and paid heed to what I say, and treated me nicely than did the whole "romantic" stuff.

I've had both ends of the spectrum - the really romantic guy, flowers, chocolates, big gestures, all fur coat and no knickers tho, as when it came to the things that actually mattered me to me - he was clueless... and now the guy I'm seeing just now - who like me is about as romantic as a kick in the nuts, but we get each other, and understand where the other is coming from, and just click on a different level all together. I know which I would choose.

To me romance isn't dead... but I'm pushing on the pillow to smother the bugger!
