Having broken free after being married to a miserable, tight, gambling manhoor for 22 years I now find myself in the 'dating' game!!! Of course I'm loving the freedom but I need to know the rules of 'the dinner date' - am I expected to sing for my supper if they pay? Do I pay or offer to pay or go halfers?

And don't rip the pish - I'm new to this lol!!!

".......- am I expected to sing for my supper if they pay? Do I pay or offer to pay or go halfers? "

No. Offer to go Dutch by all means but don't make a fuss if he insists - it's a macho thing first time out.

"And don't rip the pish - I'm new to this lol!!! "

Despite my well deserved reputation for pish-ripping, I wouldn't dream of it.

Good luck, have a great time and don't feel the need for anything more than a peck on the cheek after the meal.

If he's at all serious, he'll be OK with that.

If you make it clear it lunch or dinner and nothing more then they wont expect anything in return except in the hope that maybe you will like them enough to maybe want fun lol

Ideal. Think I'll do that followed by 'I'll go halfers!' - unless of course he is red hot gorgeous in which case he'll be invited back for his coffee lol!!!

In my opinion ( red )If he was a gent he wouldn't expect you to pay nor expect anything in return.

The paying is your prerogative but if he expects payment as such make a sharp exit regardless.

my personal opinion and I would never take it for granted there was something at the end of it.

It's called being a gent and showing respect.

but if it does work out enjoy.

If he's respectful and of the gentleman variety then go for it and enjoy. You'll not be expected to "sing for your supper".

I buy my own. Unless its with my best mate - then we take turns to pay. Example if we go movies, one buys the food, the other buys the tickets for the movie.

If a guy asks a female out for dinner then i'd think he'd expect to pay, but it's always polite to offer!

From the number of meets on your profile we'd say you have had a lot of meals out

i would hope both were doing nothing else that nite,,, and both thought dining out was a good idea...therefore share costs. But just because he asks...he pays ?
