"I'm not one for discussing my personal life in the forums, but I think that it's important for the ladies to be reminded of gynae health issues as there's nobody more shocked at my current situation than me!! A checkup at the Doc's revealed a pelvic 'lump' which I now know to be a 13cm ovarian tumour. The docs think its benign, but can't be sure until it's removed in a fairly big operation, in around 4-8 weeks time. A CT scan this week should be able to tell me more. We discuss lots of issues in the forums and breast cancer has been highlighted several times, however I can't remember much being said about ovarian cancer. Ladies, please google and have a read regarding symptoms etc. They're quite vague, tend to be mostly to do with the digestive system, and are similar to other illnesses, but it's still worth keeping the facts at the back of your mind. If in any doubt at all, get checked...better to be safe than sorry. I'm pretty upbeat, and certainly not looking for sympathy. There's no point in becoming a drama queen until I know what I'm dealing with, which will hopefully be a straight forward benign tumour. Just wanted to remind you ladies that it's not all about the boobies " All the best with this Rox and hope it all comes out well. I too had a scare this year. A routine smear showed abnormal cells and after a year of checks, I had to go for further tests. Fortunately, there were no pre-cancerous cells found. It showed the necessity for us women to attend routine smear tests so that any issues can be discovered as early as possible. Take care and my thoughts and prayers are with you. xxxxx

"I totally sympathise, my step mother has just has one removed (less than two weeks ago) Unfortunately, they are hard to diagnose, but you need to insist and persist with your doctor, that what is happening to you is not the norm! She had over 9.5 litres (Yes Litres) of fluid drained, and she left hospital 1.5 stone lighter than when she went in! So yes, it did take quite a long time for a proper diagnosis! " I hope things have settled down and your step mums making a good recovery

She feels like a completely different woman and is pissing my dad off my doing a constant fashion parade due to clothes she hasn't worn in ages actually fitting her again Though it did take over a year, before she was taken in, and most of that is due to being rushed to hospital, when they were caravanning down south!

" Thats great to hear!! Sadly I can't have keyhole surgery and will have to be opened right up. As they don't know if its benign or not, they want to get it out whole and not run the risk of spilling any nasty cells into my abdomen. Probably be in hospital around 5 days x
